Hotel Reviews Hyatt Bellevue
September 1, 2011
This hotel is one block from Bellevue Square and lots of restaurants. It's got a
couple of nice restaurants on location , along with a Tully's coffee shop. There
are three Starbucks within a few blocks. The rooms are very nice and the hotel
staff were helpful.

This was my husband and my second time to stay here. We very much enjoyed the
lovely room. Got breakfast to our room and it was surprisingly very good.

I stayed at the Hyatt for a week-long business trip that involved at least 12
hours sat in the office each day, which meant there were not many opportunities
to avail myself of the amenities on offer at the hotel. Thus this only provides
a glimpse of some parts of the hotel.
Staff were impeccably mannered and efficient, although at peak
check-in/check-out times the desk suffered a bit from the volumes of people
trying to get booked in. The Twisted Cork restaurant serves a good breakfast -
lots of different options, including buffet, full American breakfast and some
interesting alternatives (who would have thought of pancakes with pistachio for
breakfast) and a major plus of the hotel for me was the 24 hour fitness centre.
I didn't previously think there was much utility to being able to work out at
3am, but it turns out that's a good antidote to a combination of jet-lag and
working in the office until stupid o'clock.
The room itself had that impersonal quality that you find in lots of high-end
chain hotels - slightly gloomy brown carpet, very large bed with more pillows
than one person could ever need, and a bathroom that while large, lacked a few
things - no extractor fan, so the mirror stayed foggy after I'd showered, and
the shaving mirror was on a little stand rather than on an actuated arm, which
made it more difficult to depilate my face accurately.
But these feel like fairly minor quibbles. It might be a bit soulless, but on a
business trip it's standardized utilitarianism that you actually want, rather
than something that's too in-your-face character. Everything worked, there was
nothing aggravating during my stay, it just didn't have major pizazz going for
it. So it's very good for what it is, but perhaps a little soulless if you
weren't here on business.

This hotel is just fine, but definitely a large convention hotel. I prefer
smaller hotels, but the weekend was a large group of girls, so it worked
perfectly. We had a suite w/ an adjoining room, and the second room next door,
so we appreciated the "hard" blocking of the rooms. The rooms were nicely
decorated, and we had a fabulous view towards both Bellevue and Downtown Seattle
from the 22nd floor. Room service was good. The staff was very professional,
from the bellmen to the front desk. The concierge on duty when I asked about
shipping did not give me the correct information, which resulted in a cab ride,
not being able to ship the items I wanted to, and a long and heavy uphill walk
back to the hotel. All in all, looks like a Hyatt, smells like a Hyatt, and
priced like a Hyatt.

The good: Nicely renovated hotel that is clean and comfortable. Decent views and
a quiet room.
The bad: No free WiFi or wired internet.
We stopped at the Hyatt on the way back to Canada from our Oregon Coast
vacation. Normally I wouldn't have stayed here but we got a "deal" on Hotwire.
It was my first time using Hotwire and likely my last but I digress...
The Hyatt is in a very nice urban part of Bellevue and when we arrived later in
the evening there was a lot of foot traffic on the streets. For the most part it
was just younger people looking like they were clubbing or out for dinner. I
parked my car myself and saved about $20 for the valet. The parkade is right
under the hotel and easy to access. We checked in quickly and the desk staff
were friendly. Our room on the 18th floor had a nice view of the city and it
looked recently renovated. The hotel itself and the rooms are beautiful and
upscale. The room was comfortable and clean with all the amenities except free
WiFi or wired internet. To me that's a little behind the times. Despite all the
people in the area looking like they were out to party our room was very quiet
and everyone slept well.
We only stayed the night on the way home so we didn't take advantage of the
hotel amenities of explore the area. I would stay here again because the price
was reasonable, the hotel was nice and the area looked like it had a lot to
offer. Park the car yourself. The parkade is close and you'll save about $20 for
the valet. |
