Celebrating the diverse heritage of the Upper Wenatchee Valley Upper
Valley Museum at Leavenworth347 Division Street (North of the downtown business district) at Commercial and Division Upper Valley Museum at Leavenworth Mailing Address: P. O. Box 2189 Leavenworth, WA 98826-2189 (509) 548-0728 The Upper Valley Museum at Leavenworth was established in July of 2002 as a division of the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. A steering committee of volunteers set policy and was the overseer of the daily operations of the museum. The museum has been providing exhibits and educational programs to the Upper Wenatchee Valley community since Fall of 2002. In September of 2006, the museum became independent and a new nonprofit organization, the Upper Valley Historical Society, was formed to operate the Upper Valley Museum at Leavenworth. The home of the Upper Valley Museum at Leavenworth is a former bed & breakfast, the Haus Lorelei, a century old structure built as the Lamb-Davis bungalow, which was for many years the home of the Field family. The house - now known as the "Big Haus" - and the surrounding acreage comprise Barn Beach Reserve (BBR). Located at 347 Division Street, BBR covers approximately eight acres of view property from the Wenatchee River to the residential area at Commercial and Division Streets. An educational facility is being built on the property, with a large classroom/lecture hall, restrooms and office. This building’s architecture resembles a barn, recalling the barn that stood in this pasture area when the Field family raised purebred Arabian horses. It is expected to be completed in January, 2009. The Museum is open afternoons on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will be open with limited hours on Mondays, following a holiday weekend. The Upper Valley Museum has a Gift Shop, "Plumes of the Past", where you can purchase items of interest about the history of Wenatchee Valley area. Museum programs will be presented at the Big Haus each month. We look forward to seeing you at the Upper Valley Museum at Leavenworth...be sure to bring your camera! In addition to our exhibits, we have a "million dollar view" from the property.
