Kennewick, the largest city in the "Tri-Cities" area of Southeast Washington State, celebrated its centennial in 2004, marking 100 years of incorporation.

Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco make up the Tri-City area (pop. 160,000), near the confluence of the Yakima and Columbia Rivers in south-eastern Washington. At one time the dry, arid climate of this area hosted the largest concentration of Concord grape vines in the world. Grapes are still big business here, though the city has most recently been in the spotlight for the mid-'90s discovery of a skeleton that challenged archaeological assumptions about early North Americans.

Mostly a working town, Kennewick's convention facilities and numerous hotels have made it attractive for conferences and other events in this uncrowded and mostly rural part of the state. Kennewick has few tourist attractions and shopping, but an array of city parks, golf courses, Tri-Cities Coliseum and restaurants provide services to both residents and visitors to Kennewick.

The Three Rivers Convention Center, with its state-of-the-art technologies and beautiful facilities, is the perfect place for your next event. Within the facilities you will find a team of professional managers trained to deliver only the best of all services.

Kennewick, Pasco and Richland, where nearly 300 sun-filled days offer visitors a year-round outdoor paradise. Fun in the Sun is a way of life in the Tri-Cities.

The confluence of the Snake, Yakima and Columbia Rivers has produced an aquatic playground second to none. Kennewick's inviting waterways beckon water lovers from all over the region to enjoy sailing, power and pleasure boating, waterskiing, swimming, fishing, windsurfing, and much more.

Recreational and sports enthusiasts love the Tri-Cities. Our professional sports teams: Tri-City Americans WHL ice-hockey and Northwest League Baseball offer something for everyone. From bicycling to bowling, hunting to fishing, soccer to snow-skiing, recreational opportunities are endless.

Due in part to Kennewick's exceptional climate, golf is one of the Tri-Cities most popular sports. The area's ten beautiful courses challenge the most experienced golfer as well as the beginner. It is a very hard winter indeed when a round of golf cannot be played nearly every week of the year in Kennewick.

After savoring just one of the local premium wines, the visitor will understand why the area has been rightfully called the "Heart of Washington's Wine Country." Kennewick boasts more than 100 wineries within a 50 mile radius, producing some of the finest wines in the country.

The wineries range in size from the Columbia Crest Winery, where 2.5 million bottles of wine are produced annually, to the tiny Kiona Vineyards in Benton City, housed in the basement of the winemakers home but already producing an internationally acclaimed Lemberger wine.

Our unique combination of mighty rivers and cloudless skies has made the area a center for hydroelectric power generation and solar studies. The Hanford Site, adjacent to Richland, adds nuclear energy and environmental research to this mix. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to explore the area's Columbia River Exhibition of History, Science & Technology Museum and Columbia Generating Systems Visitor Center to broaden their energy knowledge.

Not to be overlooked are Kennewick's unique shopping and dining facilities. Almost every item or service imaginable can be found at one or more fine stores and shopping areas. A fascinating variety is the only way to describe the many excellent restaurants which offer fine cuisine in pleasing surroundings.

After a fine dinner, enjoy a pleasant evening on the town. Listen to your favorite music, dance to a live band or take in a play, all excellent ways to pass a Kennewick evening.

Like a fine wine, the Tri-Cities is coming of age. Not long ago, Richland, Pasco and Kennewick were three pleasant little Eastern Washington cities. Today they form a budding metropolitan area that has gained sophistication while keeping its small town charm.
