We travel a lot and have stayed in so many hotels, but Alexis Hotel was by far
the best! We stayed in President Suite and it was just gorgeous! Extremely
spacious with lovely furniture and super comfy bedding! They also prepared us a
nice playpen so that our 8months old son could sleep safe. The location was
excellent as well. I had made some special arrangement for my spouse birthday
and it went really well. It sure was a memorable stay and we WILL come back to
this hotel!!

What a lovely hotel. My room - 437 - was the size of an apartment. A hallway,
dining/living area and separate bedroom - all with stunning views of the sea and
Cascade mountains. On the walls, lots of original artwork. Decor muted and
expensive. Furniture heavy and plush. This is how it should be. Competent,
unobtrusive staff who know their way around the city as well. Best of all,
quiet.

We stayed one night in the Alexis as a little getaway weekend. Our stay couldn't
have been better. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bar staff,
especially so. Excellent selection of top shelf, small batch whiskey and scotch.
The location is excellent too!

Spent Valentine's at the Alexis Hotel with my wife. It was a very magical stay.
They rolled out the red carpet for Valentine's with a special dinner menu, and
breakfast menu the following morning. They had champagne, chocolate covered
strawberries, flowers, and a personalized note from me to my beautiful wife in
the room before we arrived. Everything about the Alexis Hotel was great. I am
planning on returning for another get-away with my wife.

I am a big fan of the Kimpton hotel chain, so it was an easy choice to stay at
the Alexis on a night when we needed to stay downtown. The rooms are great, and
probably the best value for a nice hotel in downtown Seattle. They are large,
well decorated, quiet, and comfortable. The staff was excellent, even when I
realized I'd forgotten something in my valet-parked car, I had it in hand within
ten minutes, and they were happy to do it. The hotel is also pet-friendly, and
my friend was thrilled with how welcoming they were to her dogs, including
putting their names on a welcome sign and offering them treats. The staff
requires you to leave your cell phone number with them if you are going to leave
the animals unattended, which is a nod to being solution-oriented if someone's
pets get too noisy. They also offer 24-hour room service, which is really a plus
for those late-night hunger pangs -- there's nothing worse than room service
that closes at the same time as a restaurant!
My only real disappointment centered around the room -- I'd opted for an
discounted upgrade at the time of check-in if the upgrade was available, and no
one mentioned it at all, and I forgot to ask before I got into my room. The
hotel was fairly empty (the others on our floor were our friends) so I was
disappointed that I wasn't upgraded. I was also disappointed that my "city view"
room was looking at another building just a few feet away. The porcelain in my
tub was chipped and the toilet ran constantly unless we jiggled the handle just
right, which were two small flaws that really made me feel like home--which I
can do at home, and not for $200/night! ;)
I really suggest upgrading to a suite if you are staying -- the executive suites
are amazingly huge and beautiful, the exposed brick is gorgeous. The fireplace
suite is nice for entertaining friends in your room though it isn't nearly so
large as the executive option. I will probably stay at the Alexis again if I
need to be downtown, but will definitely be a bit pushier about making sure I
have the right room!

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Alexis. The service is very friendly and
attentive. The hotel has an upscale, contemporary and sophisticated vibe.
Everything is spotless.
My husband and I were permitted to check in early and we were very pleased with
the room; it was quite large, the decor stylish and the king-size bed was quite
comfortable.
We requested a quiet room in a quiet part of the hotel and they delivered just
that. The only minor noise problem we experienced was the sound of the room fan
turning on and off as it maintained the room temperature. I imagine most people
wouldn't even notice it.
Internet access was included with the room, which we quite appreciated.
The one thing I liked least about my stay at the Alexis was the on-site
restaurant. The "Library Bistro" was very disappointing mainly because it was
closed at all times except for breakfast. There was a small pub-style facility
also within the hotel that offered meals from the Bistro's kitchen, but it was
always crowded in there and I generally don't like eating dinner in a noisy bar.
It seemed odd that this spacious restaurant would be closed while the bar was
overflowing with people seeking a meal (and not just a drink).
I did manage to have breakfast there one morning and unfortunately found the
food to be rather mediocre. I suggest avoiding their scrambled eggs.
Overall, I rate this hotel as one of the best I've ever stayed at. The only
issue was the restaurant that was only open for breakfast.

I stayed here for a few days on business, but with my wife accompanying me.
The concierge and reception staff could not have looked after my wife better -
they were brilliant!!! No question was too difficult for them, and they arranged
trips etc for her flawlessly.
I travel a great deal, but this is one of the best hotels I have ever been in.

The room was luxurious, super clean, well decorated. Probably because it was a
downtown hotel in an old building the room was on the small size, but the
bathroom was large with a good shower and beautiful marble floor and
countertops. The service is outstanding. Very easy to walk to just about
anything you'd want to do in Seattle-waterfront, stadiums, shopping, Pike Place
Market and Pioneer Square. |

We had a great stay at the Alexis Hotel. We had a beautiful large room facing
1st Ave. The street noise was tolerable. The decor was beautifully appointed.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was updated with new
fluffy towels and Aveda products. The hotel is close to Pike Street Market, just
up several blocks. Buses are convenient. The evening wine get togethers were
fun. The Library Bistro had a nice breakfast menu. The Bookstore Bar was great
for Happy Hour. The only draw back is the parking which is very pricey at $36.00
a night. Overall we had a terrific stay! |

This was a weekend getaway in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. I
advised the hotel that we were there for a special occasion, and throughout our
stay we received numerous courtesies. We stayed in the Pacific Northwest Ballet
Suite, which was sunny and spacious with a water view and beautiful photos and
memorablia from the PNB. The hotel's recent renovation is evident everywhere,
and luxious linens and Aveda products in the large and beautifully furnished
suite add to the sense of luxury. Both the Library Bistro and the Bookstore Bar
were first rate, and the Alexis is ideally situated for an easy stroll to
virtually all downtown restaurants and attractions. If you arrive with a car for
more distant excursions, the parking valet service is swift and efficient. This
is a hotel that makes you feel like their "guest" in the very BEST sense of the
word. In a word: PERFECT. |

This is a lovely hotel with an art theme. I had an executive suite with
wonderful decor and lots of intriguing contemporary artwork. Overall, the staff
was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient: 1-2 blocks
from restaurants Ivar's and McCormicks, a 5-block walk to Pike Place Market,
near bus lines, close to the light rail coming this summer, short walk to
stadiums, etc. The onsite restaurant was efficient, friendly, and offered good
food.
This hotel stretches across 3 old buildings. I was in the "north tower", where
the plumbing and air conditioning worked well. While the decor was excellent,
the bathroom was very small. The floor above me creaked when people walked
around, and the street noise was fairly loud. There is no view, but typically
none of the Kimpton hotels I have stayed in have a view to speak of. So I think
that is not an emphasis of the chain.
Another problem with Kimpton chains is that the fitness centers tend to be
sub-par, and the Alexis is even below that. The fitness center is a small room
with one recumbent bike, 2 ellipticals and 1 treadmill, and a small fan on the
floor.
But these complaints are really nit picks in a hotel that is a privilege to
discover. I definitely plan to return and feel that this hotel's ambiance was a
big contributor to the enjoyment of my trip. |

My best friend and I decided a day prior to visit Seattle for one day and head
to Alaska! On recommendation we booked at the Alexi. I am a Corporate President,
I travel around the world, I stay only at 5 star hotel chains - Four Seasons,
Ritz Carlton, and Westin &Fairmont are my homes 3 to 4 days a week. I was open
to the Boutique concept and gave it a try. WHAT A FAMILY! From the greetings of
the staff at the Bell Desk, to the Front desk, to even the dog that was behind
the desk being watched by the staff - I was truly welcomed to the Alexi. The
hotel room was spectacular and am still amazed at the price. Yes, it was a great
Junior Suite, the amenities were amazing. I particularly enjoyed the Aveda
products considering I am 16 year user of the natural enhancers. The food and
bar were better than any hotel in New York. I can go on and on, but I want to
write this most important point - We only wanted to stay a day - we left 4 days
later, because we truly felt at home. The personal touches from remembering my
name, to the wine I had the night before, to my pants being neatly folded and
placed in my closet. Thank you Kimpton, for creating a space that is relaxing, a
family that is committed and extended, an atmosphere that welcomes you and keeps
you, and a value that assures a speedy return. |

We stayed one night in March 2009. Booked the room for a rate of $170. Parking
was free because we drove a hybrid car. Pet friendly with a dog hanging out in
the lobby (I love hotel animals). Nice staff at the front desk - warm and
welcoming. Our room was large and faced the front of the building. Modern decor.
Good bed - somewhere between soft and firm (I like firm but this was
acceptable). Aveda products in the bathroom (mmm...). We ate breakfast in the
hotel. The staff there were very snooty and we waited quite a while for a table
and service despite the restaurant being only half full. I asked if they were
short staffed and was told "no". Food was good but overpriced in my opinion. We
had a nice stay and I feel we got a bargain. However, I wouldn't pay $300/night
for this hotel (it's not THAT nice). |

We ended up making two stays here in two different rooms during our week-long
Pacific Northwest trip and I am so glad we did. Both trips were great.
The hotel itself is in a phenomenal location! On first street downtown, near the
market, near the waterfront and near Pioneer Square. I was so happy to be right
in the middle of it. We were able to get up in the morning, with the dog, get
coffee, get fruit at Pike Place and stroll - that was perfect for us.
Let me get to the dog part. Love my dog, love me and they did. Both trips, they
had treats waiting our room for our dog. I understand people might be leary
about pet-friendly hotels with dog hair, etc. I hate dog hair! The hotel was
clean and dog hair, cat hair, none of it was a problem.
The first trip we stayed 3 nights in a suite that was beautiful. (I took
pictures but deleted them accidentally). It had a seating area and bedroom area.
Again, perfect for our needs, we could put the crate in the seating area and
everything else in the bedroom.
The second trip was for just one night and we wanted the aforementioned suite.
They were so nice saying they weren't able to accommodate us in that one but
gave us a different suite - a larger one. SUCH a nice room. It had a larger
seating area. Unfortunately, since we were there 1 night for the 2nd portion of
the trip, we didn't get to take advantage of it as much as we had previously.
I read a number of posters complaining about the parking charges. It's
expensive. $34/night but that ballpark price that hotels in the city charge.
That being said, it wasn't an issue.
I love the decor. It's an almost Hollywood Regency design with a bit of a Pac NW
twist. I really enjoyed the design aesthetic. The fitness center is terribly
small. If there are 3 people in there sweating, you will feel it.
For us, this was perfect hotel that suited our needs. |

This is a great hotel -- I am surprised that other reviews noted any bad
service, since to a person ALL of the staff here were great. Welcoming,
pleasant, professional, helpful - we couldn't have asked for more. The artwork
and furnishings are beautiful, our room was absolutely wonderful,
well-decorated, comfortable. The Library Bistro and Bookstore Bar were great,
one of the best breakfasts we've had, anywhere, with an excellent server, and a
wonderful light dinner and drinks later. Internet access was fast and easy, the
Aveda products and the mini-bar selections all great. We really loved this
place! And of course the location can't be beat. |

My husband stayed here all week for work; I joined just for Friday through
Sunday. I was greeted upon arrival by Lily, the hotel dog. She's a super cute,
if a bit bored, golden retriever/yellow lab-ish dog. They're currently doing
some work on the facade, so the hotel is covered with scaffolding on the bottom
few floors. The lobby is modern, but still comfy. There were usually people
sitting in the lobby, which made it feel a bit homey. Every evening from 5 to 6
PM the hotel hosts a wine happy hour - such a great perk! Each morning until 10
AM they offer coffee in the lobby - also nice, but I'd prefer a coffee pot in
the room! Only once while we were in the lobby did I see the Concierge at
his/her desk. That was somewhat frustrating when we were trying to find a
specific restaurant a bit out of town.
Our room was on the small side, but definitely large enough for what we needed.
The bed was comfy, but the pillows were a bit too flat - both my hubby & I had
to supplement with the firm throw pillows meant as decor. The biggest down side
was the bathroom - specifically the pedestal sink. There was very little space
for me to put my make-up bag (or even my contact case, toothbrush, etc). Oddly,
there wasn't a hook on the back of the bathroom door for PJs... (As you can see,
it's the small things that I pay attention to...)
We had drinks and a cheese plate in the hotel bar - yum. We just had a few beers
(mostly microbrews on tap), but they had some tasty looking & sounding mixed
drinks, and many choices of Scotch, Bourbon, etc. The bar seemed popular with
people who weren't staying at the hotel, as well - which I liked! |

We went to Seattle for our 1 yr anniversary. We had a great experience at the
Serrano in San Francisco last year-so didn't hesitate to stay at a Kimpton
again. The location couldn't have been beat-it was an easy walk to Pike Place
Market and Pioneer Square (Underground Tour). We booked a package through their
website for hotel and air and were not disappointed. We took the Gray Line bus
back to the airport-it was easy to set up and they picked us up at the hotel so
we didn't have to walk up to the normal stop.
The restaurant was a bit pricey. We ate at Boka across the street for our
Anniversary dinner-it was wonderful! We took the Bainbridge Island ferry one
day-it was a nice, reasonably priced trip with great views of the skyline.
They have a dog in the lobby-so if you don't like dogs-be aware. It was very pet
friendly. We love the Aveda amenities and the bed and linens were very
comfortable.
Our only issue is the wireless didn't work in our room. We didn't go to Seattle
to use our laptop-but it was frustrating. We were on the phone w/ their IT for a
1/2 hour.. we just ended up using the laptop in the lobby instead-not ideal-but
it worked for what we needed. |

I had a fabulous stay at the Alexis in February. The staff was extremely nice. I
liked the free glass of wine at happy hour in the lobby bar (I got there late
and they still served it to me). I left my blackberry charger in my room and
they recovered it and mailed it back to me. Room was huge and very nicely
decorated. Price was reasonable. |
