Hotel Review of the Courtyard Seattle Lake Union

I find interesting that the hotel was not full by any means and as a member in
their preferred club, I did not rate a room with a view of the lake. The towels
were dismal at best and I shared that with the staff at checkout and received an
"I'm sorry" but the delivery was certainly not heartfelt. Total cost for one
night is near 200 dollars. Room was 139, plus tax, parking 20, plus tax and that
gets you right up to 200 bucks. I would likely not stay there again. Not enough
value for my cash!

I have stayed in nicer Courtyards but this was in a great location. It had a
nice bar and sitting area with gas logs. We were right across from the Lake. The
room was ok, wasn't there much. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We had a great time on our trip. :)Nov 28, 2009

Some good, some not so good.
Firstly, this hotel has a great view of Lake Union, a great location and there's
a great restaurant and coin laundry in the hotel.
BUT, while the even # rooms overlooking Lake Union offer some good views, IMHO
they were more than outweighed by the traffic noise that woke me up starting
around 5:30 AM. My advice, stay here, but ask for a room on the opposite side of
the street from Lake Union for a good night's sleep. Also, be prepared to pay
$20/day for parking.

Great location to access Downtown Seattle, Space Needle, Lake Union. Easy to get
to and easy to get back to airport. They were nice to upgrade my room to a
top-floor waterfront view, however, no other service people went above and
beyond, but at least I didn't have anything to complain about. Simple hotel,
very quiet, $20 garage parking. I left my car and walked all over, it was great!
Clean and spacious room with comfortable bed. Everything downtown is pricey, so
I'd say I was willing to pay for good quality. |

The hotel is great for a single or couple traveling. It was too small for me and
my two teenagers. We like the location because of the proximity to the new ligh
trail. Our last visit we stayed in the Marriott Residence Inn, just down the
street and it seems like a much better value. Much bigger rooms, usually suites
with full kitchen and separate bedrooms. They also provide a very decent
complimentary breakfast. So a great place for families. That said, the courtyard
was fine, clean, bed was quite comfortable, hotel looks fresh and clean, the
staff were all friendly and helpful. Others have complained about the walk to
Seattle Center. It does go along a very busy road, but the sidewalk is plenty
wide and it's a short distance. We didn't have any problems or complaints about
that. Joeys is a great place to eat and we really enjoyed the Experience music
project |

This place covers all the essentials. It is a very comfortable and clean hotel
with a good looking swimming pool (did not actually use it). It is about 5 or 6
blocks away from the space needle. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and
everyone. |

I found the hotel clean and the staff courteous. The hotel room was very nicely
decorated and clean. I stayed on the 5th floor and the end of the corridor. It
was a very quiet location. I attended my conference during the day, enjoyed a
nice meal at the restaurant, and retired in the comfortable room. I would
definitely stay there again in the future. |

Great location for price. We were near the Seattle Center and could walk around
without trouble. While it isn't the "top end" Marriott, it served it's purpose
just fine.
Free Breakfast Buffet was a good start of the day.

It was awesome! you could see the sea planes landing across the street. Parking
was a little steep at $18 but you didn't need to drive. Take the streetcar
downtown. Rooms were nice but to save midnight parties from apartment buildings
across the ally way get rooms with a lake view or ending in even digits. The 4th
floor was a little noisy but higher floors are quieter. One suggestion is to
make bigger parking stall because a wide car coming in at 9,10 pm can't really
get in unless denting bumpers or spending 30 minutes getting into the concrete
covered stall. Other than that it was awesome if you don't have an expensive
wide European car like I did at 9,10 pm.

Typical Courtyard, but solid option based if you can get it for no more than
$100. However, "insist" on a room "facing" Lake Union. Great views. Otherwise,
you will be overlooking the hotel dumpsters & delivery entrance. Makes a big
difference in the quality of your stay. Free trolley to downtown just a 5 minute
walk, or brisk 20 minutes walk into town, or 10 minutes to Space Needle. |

Booked this hotel over the telephone, understanding that the relatively high
room rate included a continental breakfast.
As they do not offer 2 x Queen size beds, we had to take a King size with our
daughter sleeping on a pull-out (day/night lounge). Making up the pull-out was
no great problem, but the hotel did not supply blankets or a quilt for this bed:
considering they knew we would be using the pull-out, the lack of sufficient
bedding was disappointing, but not a show-stopper. After two phone calls,
Housekeeping finally delivered a quilt. Unfortunately, by the time the pull-out
was extended, there wasn't much floor space left in what had initially appeared
to be a comfortable room.
Considering the tariff, this all put a rather unpleasant taste in our mouths, so
we found alternative accommodation. We checked out the next morning and moved to
the The Holiday Inn 3-4 blocks closer to downtown, considerably cheaper and much
friendlier and more helpful staff. This was the first time we had used a
Marriott Hotel - it will probably also be the last. |
