My colleagues warned me these people were difficult to work with. Said he would
never stay here again.
I had the same experience dealing with reservations. Lot's of controversy and
discussions on obtaining my corporate rate for vacation. Don't know whether
they'll honour it..."at the discretion of the front desk". Well, there are too
many good hotels in Seattle to deal with that. I'll take my business elsewhere.
I'd do the same if I were you.

If understated elegance is your bag, then pack those bags and stay at the
Fairmont Olympic Seattle. I stayed here one night and wished the stay was one
week. The staff was great and lacked any snobbery found in other hotels of this
stature (at 2 or 3 times the rate). The standard guest rooms are quite spacious.
At first glance upon entering the room I thought I was entering into their suite
room. The hotel is easy to access on and off interstate 5. Time permitting, you
should indulge in their breakfast. Huge, huge room located just off the lobby.
Indeed an understated elegant property.

A wonderful time and a great feel to this hotel . Feeling like we were in a time
capsule we enjoyed the ambience. Our room was a bit worn, and we were not aware
that hotel was under renovation - till the day before our arrival - given that-
we enjoyed this Seattle Classic and will have great memories - we spent Saturday
night in the lobby with a drink and a great pianist. Our room was spacious and
clean. Customer service is great and I was treated to a plate of chocolate
covered strawberries , as I was celebrating my Birthday . We enjoyed Sunday
Brunch at the Georgian, elegance and leisure - It is possible to stay in Seattle
and not leave this hotel- although shopping in the city has to be enjoyed. We
live about an hours drive from Seattle so we enjoy an overnight stay in the
city, this is one of our best night's out - I was raised in the Northwest and
had always wanted to stay here - I was not disappointed.

My wife and I joined a small group from our University on business and leisure.
We had a contractual very reasonable rate, plus a complimentary upgrade to a
suite and free wireless in room internet (President's Club membership). The
hotel was spotless and looked as if it has just been totally refurbished
(previously Four Seasons). Our rooms were well furnished and spacious. Bed was
comfortable, and HVAC unobtrusive. Service was prompt and gracious. Location was
central - Benaroya Symphony Hall is next door, many fine restaurants, Pike
Market, and Pioneer Sq just a short walk. We will gladly stay here again on any
future visit. Breakfast was expensive. Instead head over to Bacco near Pike
Market for outstanding and reasonable Eggs Benedict with dungenous crab. Taxis
at the door and easy access to I-5 gets you conveniently and speedily to SEA-TAC
airport - or if you are traveling light there is a light rail station a block
away for same.

My wife and I just returned from Seattle. We usually stay at the Ritz Carlton.
This was our first stay at a Fairmont property. We thought the hotel was great.
The rooms were very large, came with robes, in room safe and a pay bar that was
very overpriced. However, you could go to the spa and get free bottled water,
coffee and tea. The water pressure in the shower was very good and the location
was great. We were within walking distance of every attraction and restaurant.
The hotel supplied us plenty of umbrellas for the rainy days we had. The best
was a limo that was provided free of charge. All the staff were friendly and the
rooms were very clean. I would stay there again. Also, the room, work out
facility and spa were very nice. I found the staff to be very upbeat and
friendly. We never ate in the hotel nor did we have drinks. The lobby is a
little stuffy but who really cares? Would recommend the hotel for everybody
(families, business, or a romantic weekend). We consider ourselves to be hotel
snobs and I really had no complaints about this property.

Great hotel in the heart of Seattle. Easy walking distance to Convention Center,
waterfront and lots of restaurants and shopping. The service here was
great--everything we asked for was promptly taken care of and the staff
remembered our names throughout our stay. The building itself is on older
property and is on the National Register of Historic Places. the lobby is very
nice and has the feel an older, grand hotel. The rooms are clean and good sized
but have an older look to them. We were told that this building used to be the
Seattle Four Seasons hotel until Four Seasons built a new property on the water.
If modern is your thing, you'd probably rather be there than the Fairmont
Olympic. Also, we were a little disappointed that although you can get a
massage, there isn't an actual spa. Be sure to try the Apple Fritter French
Toast for breakfast. It's amazing.

I just returned from two nights at the Fairmont which were heavenly. The hotel
upgraded us to a suite, which had a lovely sitting area and a separate
foyer-like area for the dresser and closet. Everything was perfect in the room
and the chambermaid straightened out the stuff on the bathroom vanity and folded
my husband's sweater before placing it where he left it on top of the dresser.
We felt gently looked after. The fitness area is a room with weight lifting
equipment, but the cardio workout machines are arrayed in a row facing the
indoor pool and hot tub. Very nice atmosphere. The Terrace was great for
cocktails--there's an "inside" area, where you are in a more intimate setting
close to the bar itself, or an adjoining area just outside, where you have an
overview of the grand lobby. The dimensions and scale of this place are
wonderful. The decoration is old-fashioned in terms of wallpaper choices, etc.,
but it all looks freshly done rather than shabby or worn. The outside of this
hotel is very photo friendly with trim little boxwood hedges and manicured
shrubs. Very pretty.

An amazing hotel with gracious and very accommodating staff! ( I had written a
longer detailed review TA site lost it while I was attempting to Preview it!
To summarize: excellent front staff, totally unobtrusive and wonderful maid
service,
excellent restaurants (Terrace and Shuckers), amazing concierge who are fun,
energetic and very helpful. Be sure to ask for a newly renovated room. Location
is excellent (LV and Gucci) is out the front door :) We had debated between the
Fairmont and the FS. I am glad that we made the decision to stay at this
property. We plan to return with our children to Seattle and make the Fairmont
our hotel of choice. Kudos to a very well run hotel with some really exceptional
staff. Happy and safe travels.

I was sharing an Deluxe Executive King Suite non smoking with a friend for a get
together with others and was staying 2 nights in mid-Aug and being a President's
Club member check in was a breeze and was up to room #628 to drop some things
off before heading out to dinner. The room itself has French doors that can
close off the bedroom from the living area and so my friend was taking the sofa
bed while I was in the king in this bedroom area. We dropped out stuff to head
out to meet up with some friends and returned around midnight only to discover
the hide abed was hiding and no amount of leverage would get it to open up. A
call down to the front desk had both house keeping and maintenance arriving very
quickly for that time of night and after an hour of the two staff trying to
unfold the sofa bed, it was decided that because all the rollaways were occupied
a mattress and bedding could be put on the floor to allow us to call it a night
and so it was made up quickly.
Over coffee the next morning the friend was impressed they had staff on call at
that time of night and that the matter had been resolved as it had, a point of
view I shared. After more entertaining and sightseeing we arrived back later in
the day to find a little note saying the sofa bed had been fixed but that the
mattress would be left and the guest could sleep that second night in whichever
they preferred. Knowing sometimes sofa bed mattresses can be less comfortable,
my friend opted to spend the night on the floor again and said it was more than
alright with him.
While the whole matter was handled well by the staff from a customer service
perspective I was a bit unimpressed with the quality of furnishing in what is
termed a Deluxe Executive King Suite as the malfunctioning sofa bed was older
and worn in very visible places and seemed out of place in a room otherwise
quite well appointed. Had we been in a tiny and standard room worn furnishings
would've surprised me less than in the pricier and larger suite category. I know
the Olympic has been around for 80+ years and older hotels can show their age at
times and in places so won't hold it against the hotel entirely as it didn't
take away entirely from what otherwise was a pleasant stay.
One note about the french doors on the king suite part of the room was that they
were fabric only, not glass, so closing the doors really didn't do much to shut
out the sound from the living room area, such as the TV or from a telephone
conversation. Especially for families I could see it being a bit of a downside
not having a more soundproof bedroom area so they could put little ones to bed
and watch TV for a while without disturbing them too much. When I had seen the
doors in other guests pictures and on the Fairmont website I guess I hust
assumed they were more than thin almost see through fabric.
The fitness facility and pool area was a nice getaway spot, though at only 4
feet or so at its deepest the pool seemed a tad shallow for my liking. The
outdoor patio's adjacent to the pool made for a nice place to spend some time
reading the paper on a warm summer morning and some chaise loungers would've
made it even more relaxing but there were none in sight.
The Fairmont is very central and within walking distance of sights such as Pike
Place Market, Safeco Field and numerous bars & restaurants in the downtown core.
Having a rental car we parked at a nearby underground lot for $7 as they
Fairmont was more than triple that amount. We were told that they waive the
valet parking fee however if you're driving a hybrid so will remember that for
next visit. Since we were visiting friends around Seattle over the weekend we
didn't eat at the hotel but noted the typically high buffet breakfast prices and
would imagine the evening meals would be in the same sort of premium compared to
off-site dining options.
For a getaway with friends being right downtown was a definite bonus and if I
was in town again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Fairmont Olympic for a good
price as the one I grabbed well in advance. |

Our room contained two "Twin beds" I am 6 ft 2 and over 200 lbs, When I book a
room with two beds I don't expect them to be child sized.$20 an hour to use the
business centre, to use the internet on antiquated computers?? $36 a night for
parking?? $26 for bacon and eggs from room service?? {Includes coffee...lol}
Looking out our 9th floor window the outside of this hotel looks like a hospital
set in WW2.The Marriott blows this hotel away, free internet room, large suites
and modern, was so disappointed we didn't book there for less money. On a
positive note, Staff we encountered were friendly and polite here, this hotel
does have a grand lobby and restaurant, spa and exercise room are top notch, our
room was about 250 square feet, looked like it was last decorated in the
50's,,we passed on the $8.00 bottle of water in our tiny room..lol. |

the law firm I was visiting said that this was very nearby and was the best
choice. we took a suite since my wife might be hanging around and I figured it
would be a good investment to keep her happy! we enjoyed the huge rooms and the
very helpful staff. comfortable bed. room service was puntual and did NOT hang
about looking for an extra tip!
huge public rooms harken back to the old grand style.
we liked the mix of guests, too. some older and many youngish with well-behaved
kids. very central to most things and easy walk to waterfront.
was certainly not a bargain but how do you price a happy spouse? |

Due to a conference, friends and travel we stayed at three hotels during our 10
days in Seattle. This Fairmont is easily one of the nicest in the chain and we
think has the best dining room of the 25 or 30 Fairmont's we've stayed in
throughout US and Canada. We had a large two room suite and fine though smallish
bath. All fixtures and equipment were the latest (flat screen tvs, e.g.). The
oyster/fish restaurant Shuckers was fantastic as was dinner in the main dining
room. Staff were wonderfully helpful and arranged breakfast specially for us
when we needed an early morning departure. |

We stayed two nights at a corner room on the 10th floor at the very end of the
hallway with a view of the buildings across the street and a little bit of the
water. Everything in the room was pretty nice, really only a couple things i'd
complain about, one of our bathrobes in the room was a bit worn-out and the tv
needs to be upgraded. Staff was pretty friendly. We had dinner at the hotel
restaurant/bar and they only had one item on the menu that was vegetarian other
than salads. The fitness club has a pretty big hot tub area and sauna. |

We stayed here at the suggestion of a friend who uses it often. Found a good
rate on a discount website and did three days over a weekend. Large corner room
with three windows (that opened!), very quiet, all amenities you'd expect at
somewhere like the Ritz but without the stiffness. As our pal said, this is a
lovely staff, warm and pleasant helpful. Excellent bed and nice linens, heavy
bathrobes, comfortable armchair with an ottoman. Central location near the art
museum, the Koolhaas library, and about a 5 block walk to Pike Place Market. We
did not have a car, but our pal usually parks in another garage the next block
south and finds it less expensive. And a great recommendation for the
bakery-cafe on the ground floor on the west side; fabulous pastry and coffee as
good as you'd expect in Seattle. I can't tell you when I've been as happy with a
hotel as this one.
