Hotel Review of the Inn at Harbor Steps Seattle

We stayed here for our first four nights in Seattle and found it's close to Pike
Place Market location ideal for exploring Downtown. It's also right opposite
Seattle Art Museum-a real must .
We had a ground floor room overlooking ar rear walk way and wondered if it might
be noisy but the path is gated off at night with private access only so in fact
it was very quiet.
Staff were friendly and helpful and we had a fridge and kitchen sink area to one
side of the very spacious room , with lots of cupboard space which was very
useful.
There was no overhead lighting in the room and even with the lamps lit it was
very dark-too dark to read, for example.
Light snacks and wine/coffee are served in the library every afternoon-a nice
bonus and a chance to unwind and perhaps chat to other guests.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing, however, at least in comparison to other
similar hotels. Too much stodgy and fried stuff-and not prepared particularly
well.. Some granola and fresh fruit would have been good.( But then my husband
says I'm fussy and enjoyed his!) Altogether a clean, spacious, well located
hotel, good value for money and friendly staff.

cozy fireplace in deluxe queen room The staff at the Inn at Harbor Steps was
more than accommodating. This was a great, quiet, conveniently located hotel
with all the amenities of home. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
The only complaint I have was that the room was a bit stuffy but was easily
remedied by opening the nice European style windows to let in the fresh, NW air.
Close to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, Pike Place, Post Alley. Will
definitely be back.

The Inn is an ideal central location with lots of restaurant and bars within
walking distance. We walked to every attraction we had planned to see including
the Space Needle. The room was good size and quiet except for Saturday night
when you could hear the waterfront partiers, but overall very quiet. Breakfast
was free and freshly made every morning by a personal chef which was an
unexpected treat. We stayed 5 nights and couldn't beat the price. I recommend
eating at The Brooklyn which is one block up from the Inn...fabulous food and
great service. We would stay at the Inn at Harbour Steps again and recommend it
to anyone who wants to stay in downtown Seattle.

Wow, I never knew an adult is anyone over 5 years old. That's what this place
considers an adult and they charge $25 per child. I guess that covers the
breakfast, although what 6 year old can eat $25 worth of breakfast. Nice place
though. In the middle of everything. Parking is pricey.

The staff was gracious and welcoming, breakfast buffet was under-described -
it's delicious and the inn dining room is very comfortable for settling into a
wing chair to read the paper after breakfast; loved the wine/tea time in the
library, a wonderful way for the tootsies and oneself to recover after a day of
touring.
The room was spotlessly clean, big French window looking out onto the formal
private garden, 2 fuzzy towel robes in the closet, and the teddy bear on the bed
was a charming addition.
There couldn't be a better location for an urban exploration of Seattle: Seattle
Art Museum across the street, Pike Marketplace down the handsome Harbor Steps,
Aquarium down just a bit farther the steps to Alaskan Way. Pioneer Square a
brisk 15 minute walk to the right, 15 minutes beyond that to the International
District and the Luke Wing Museum (a must see), and across the street, up the
hill, and a few blocks to the left and you're at the marvellous Public Library
in downtown and the luxury shopping malls plus the entrance to the Monorail to
the Space Needle.
The Inn at Harbor Steps is much more like a family-operated B&B than a hotel;
the staff leaves around 6 pm and comes in at 7:30 am but the gracious apartment
security guard is there.
Computer available for printing boarding passes and an excellent Town Car for
returning to the airport.
Am I staying again? Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We just spent a weekend at the Inn at Harbour Steps and were very disappointed.
We had previously stayed at a Four Sisters Inn in California and had an amazing
experience, so we thought that another hotel from the same chain would offer the
same experience. The Inn in California was bright, clean, comfortable and the
service was excellent. Everything that the Inn at Harbour Steps was not. The
hotel room was nothing like the pictures on the website and didn't match the
description even closely. The room was quite dark and poorly furnished. The
fireplace was in a location that you couldn't sit in front of and the shams on
the bed were badly stained. It was an old, dark and "well worn" room that didn't
exactly make for a pleasant and inviting weekend.
The hotel advertized wine and cheese reception every evening. Good luck on that
one! When we participated about 30 minutes after the advertised start, there was
no cheese left, no crackers, no fruit or veggies left, no clean wine glasses and
very little wine. After washing two glasses at the sink, we each had one glass
of wine before the wine was completely finished and guests were wandering around
looking for refills. I went to the front desk to ask for someone to replenish
the cheese and wine. After a phone call to someone, one carafe of white wine
appeared after 20 minutes. No red wine, no cheese or crackers or fruit. The
excuse the next day was that they only have a set amount of fruit, cheese and
crackers, and they have nobody available to prepare more.
The breakfast was OK, but the server in the kitchen was completely stressed out
trying to keep up with the guests eating and requesting clean dishes and
cutlery.
We did send an e-mail to the hotel management detailing our experience, but we
had no reply. I guess they just weren't interested in hearing our feedback.
On a positive note, the Inn's location in Seattle is good. Close to shopping and
restaurants. It could be better with a considerable amount of updating of the
rooms, at least to our room. Plus the service attitude needs to change and the
wine and cheese reception needs to be properly staged. Someone needs to be in
attendance to replenish the goodies and make everyone feel more welcome. We will
not be returning.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Harbor Steps for two nights. It was the
perfect location - just steps from the quaint Pike's Market where you can find
such interesting boutiques to explore. The hotel was delightful for many
reasons. It boasts a quiet and serene atmosphere and beautiful decor. It is very
secure and the parking is very reasonable - only $18.00 a night which is unheard
of for downtown Seattle! We definitely plan on going back. When we do, we will
make sure to call and speak to Long - he was a terrific concierge! He was not
only helpful and courteous but he was a plethora of information about Seattle
and the surrounding amenities.
Thanks for the great stay Long!
