Hotel Review of the Inn at Queen Anne Seattle

Nov 29, 2009
Seattle offers a traveler many options for food and fun. It has ample hotels of various styles and accommodations.
We stayed at the Queen Inn in the Queen Anne District. It was not as advertised but it was quaint, clean and historic. The neighborhood is the attraction with restaurants, shopping and evening entertainment within walking distance.
Public transportation in Seattle is a myriad of stops, but it gets you where you need to go and cheap. We took two buses out to Woodinville and visited the Chateau St. Michelle Winery. It was so worth the trip. I recommend the Red Hook Brewery (5 five-ounce pours of great beer).
In Seattle, Pike Street Market is everything the hype says it is. Food of all kinds and fresher than fresh. Flowers in abundance and more beautiful than you may have seen outside of English gardens. We were there for three days and went each day. So much to explore and prices that are reasonable.
The most attractive part of Seattle is the people. They were hospitable and friendly, welcoming you into their homes and their lives. It was like visiting your home town.

Nice place of price great location has some charm old hotel no elevator! Has kitchens, lots to do and places to eat around the hotel, must try Dicks restaurant!!! Its a old fashioned hamburger joint but its fast and cheap, also open late! Bathrooms are small, nice view of the needle. I would stay here again if the price was a little lower!

We visited Seattle in the first week of September. Awesome weather, so not having an AC or screens on the windows wasn't a problem. Prior to arriving, I discovered that parking would be expensive and that the hotel could provide a airport shuttle for $45.00. We decided to take a cab, with little or no traffic slow downs it cost $56.00. The check in process was very nice. We arrived 3 hours early and Ashleigh was most helpful getting us in a room early. The desk staff was most helpful with directions to nearby restaurants. There is no elevator. There are stairs before you get into the building. There is a very strong and helpful door/bellman to carry the bags up. The room was clean, adequately furnished with a mini kitchen. The bathroom was clean but should be recaulked. I realize times are tuff, but a nice caulk job would make a world of difference. I'm not a professional, but even I could do a better job. We missed the afternoon wine tasting, but the continental breakfast was adequate. The courtyard garden was quite beautiful. I think I liked the location of the hotel the best. The City Center (Space Needle area) and Pike's Market are within walking distance. There are many nice restaurants within a three block area. We were spending three nights in Seattle before catching a cruise to Alaska so the washers & dryers were most convenient. We felt that for the price we spent we got a really good value. Don't miss Highway 99 Blues Club for live music!

Our stay at the Inn at Queen Anne was great. I'll mention up front - we got an amazing deal on the rate. At only $60/night in the Seattle area, this place was a steal. They put us in a 1 bed room when we first arrived, but they had no problem switching us to appropriate accommodations.

Sure, there are a few flaws in the decor and the carpet is old... but it's an old place. If you want high end decor, go pay the price elsewhere. This is a small-scale old building with relatively friendly staff at the front desk and an unbelievably helpful shuttle driver who will make the effort to take you wherever you want to go and give recommendations along the way.

With the free shuttle service and access to bus stops less than a block from the hotel, staying here was no inconvenience at all. We made it to all the locations we wanted to see and had a great place to sleep at night. Not too loud outside, and surrounded by decent eateries and a great grocery store. If you can find Nielsen's bakery a couple blocks away, get a snitter. It'll all be worth it!

I was in Seattle in April, so no A/C was totally fine. And the proximity to the grocery store made having a kitchenette a wonderful amenity! This is not a luxury hotel, but the service and quaint local atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for to get a true feeling for a new area. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, especially those who tire of modern, uniform hotels with no character.

This is an older building, poor soundproofing & old slide-up windows (our room's window did not lock, and only on the second floor). It seems like an old dorm or old apartment with plaster walls and wood floors that resonate every sound and every person walking down the hallway shakes the place. Our suite was clean and had a small kitchen. Front desk staff was pleasant. There's a shuttle to downtown. Location is awkward however if you are seeking to walk to downtown or Capitol Hill. If you get a good deal, not so bad.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this Hotel following a Cruise. Working in a Hotel in the U.K I always try to be less critical when travelling as I fully appreciate the hard work and passion that is needed for this particular industry.

I have a few major gripes with this property, firstly the amount of time we had to wait for the room. I appreciate that check in time is 3pm however, I am also fully aware that this is a guideline and following good practice there is a way of putting the rooms on priority in order to meet guests needs as much as possible. Prior to arriving at the Hotel I telephoned to see if there was any possibility of getting into a room as we were exhausted and needed to have a shower. I was told they will do what can, when arrived was informed the room was not ready and asked to check back about in about an hour which we did do, then to check again at 1pm which we did and then checked again at 2pm, we eventually got into our room at about 2.50pm. I found this to be a little excessive and extremely annoying as there were also not many arrivals at this time.

So we then went to our room after dragging our heavy suitcases up the numerous steps and flights of stairs to walk down a corridor that smelt of a hospital ward .

I think Housekeeping did a good job considering what they had to work with.

It was very hot over the few days that we spent there and was actually quite shocked to find no air conditioning, however we could of coped with just the ceiling fan and the window open, if we were not literally on top of noisy ac units which were just outside our window from other properties. A suggestion maybe to equip these noisier rooms with Air Conditioning.

The continental breakfast consisted of a few pastries, fresh coffee and tea laid out in the Reception Area.

Overall the staff were pleasant enough, they do need to be trained in Customer Care skills and be more Accommodating to guests needs. I have stayed in many non rated, 1 and 2 * Hotels of a much higher calibre and cannot keep thinking what a gem this Inn would be with effective staff training and a maintenance programme which often just consists of a pot of paint.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a fantastic trip to Seattle. We found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful--explaining map and pointing us in the right direction. We walked EVERYWHERE! Pike's Place, Chinatown, Pioneer Square, and of course Seattle Center. We were a bit apprehensive when we saw the room, but easily got used to it. Huge closet helped us keep the room clutter free. No a/c was a little frightening, but Seattle in May is not exactly steamy so we were fine.

Plus during these tough times, saving some costs by staying at the Inn at Queen Anne allowed us to book a 4-Star Hotel in Vancouver. If I was doing another trip on a budget, I would gladly stay at Inn at Queen Anne again.

Just spent 4 nights at this hotel. The location was great for an event that occurred at the Seattle Center, the staff was pleasant, but.......the rooms aren't much. Everything is on the worn side. For the $50-$79 dollar range yeah it works, but above that I might question it. A word of advice...check your sheets to make sure they were changed, mine weren't and I had to go tell them of the fact. Also you might want to bring your own shampoo and lotion because after one night's use they don't like to restock them. On the 3rd evening I had to go ask for some. I wasn't real impressed with this hotel and at a rate of $99 a night next time I will look elsewhere. Oh if you have a car $20 a day to park. Take the bus from the airport a $2 trip.

Just stayed here for 2 nights. Pros: location - walking distance to space needle, lots of great restaurants nearby, kitchenette - small and very basic but it was nice to have a small fridge with a stove top for some basic cookin, price - we paid $58/night + $8 tax.
Cons: street noise in the morning, $18 for parking (you could probably find street parking but this was simple), very basic breakfast, wi-fi did not work well.
Overall: I would absolutely stay here again but you get what you pay. A cheap, basic (but clean) hotel room in a good location. We drove to the pikes place market from here, it was 1.2 miles but you could probably walk.

Excellent location for my daughter, her friend, and me. The two (16 and 17) were able to walk to Pike's, the Aquarium, SAM, etc., with no worry for safety. I appreciated the free round-trip shuttle to downtown. Hotel staff were really helpful with maps of area and area dining, directions, and advice. They let me know before I arrived that on-street parking is free from Saturday night at 6:00 until Monday at 8:00, which saved us the parking garage fee. A comfortable and convenient budget choice.

Don't judge the hotel by its price! Affordable for budget savers! Offers daily breakfast in the lobby (basics muffin, bagels, juices, coffee, enough for a simple breakfast). Juices & coffee serves all day till 11pm! Front lobby staffs are very helpful! You can ask them for directions to the location you are visiting, they will print you maps and even give you exact public transportation time schedules for you to take. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel! Offers complimentary shuttle service daily from 9 to 5pm to local attractions. You can even ask to go to other places as long as it's within the proximity, they will be glad to take you to and back from there!
