Hotel Review of the La Quinta Inn Downtown Seattle

The curtains fell off the wall the 1st night while we were sleeping which is s
problem with an office building directly behind us. The phone didn't work. The
air conditioning barely worked. The worst thing was that the bottom of the
bathtub "squished". I can only imagine the amount of mold under the tub!! On top
of that, a guest pulled the fire alarm and we were visited by the local and
professional fire fighters at 3:00 AM. Without a car, you will do a lot of
walking since the location is closest to but several blocks away from the Space
Needle, shopping and public transportation. The best thing - it was a block from
Whole Foods. The staff was friendly but powerless to do much about the hotel.

This is not the Ritz....it's a La Quinta that has really good prices for the
Seattle area. My husband and I stayed two nights pre-cruise. We stayed on the
third floor in a corner room with one queen bed. The room had a balcony and a
pretty good view of the Space Needle. It was actually a pretty large room. There
was a separate sink in the dressing area with a large mirror and then another
sink in small bathroom with the toilet and bath tub. The breakfast was fine,
with Belgian Waffles, toast, cereal, biscuits, gravy, fruit, and yogurt. The
location was about a ten to fifteen minute walk to the Space Needle and probably
a 20 minute walk to Pike Market. IThe La Quintat is located a few blocks from
the Light Rail Westlake Station, which takes you to Sea-Tac airport for $2.50 in
about 30 minutes. As has been mentioned before, there is a Whole Foods market a
couple of blocks away as well as a wonderful pizza place (Tutta Bella Neapolitan
Pizzaria) that is located in the shopping area upstairs from the Whole Foods by
the Pan Pacific Hotel. The hotel front staff was very nice and held our luggage
for us while we did some last minute sight-seeing before leaving for the cruise
terminal. We had the front desk staff call for a Town Car to take us to Pier 91
(where Holland America docks). It was about a 15 minute drive and cost $20
before tip. I was pleased with our stay there for the two nights. We didn't have
a car with us, but they do have free parking and free wireless internet. It
isn't super fancy, but I found it to be clean and very acceptable.

When planning this stay in Seattle ,I counted on my Trip Advisor colleagues to
find a reasonable place to stay . Of all the hotels in my price range , La
Quinta received the most positive reviews and so I chose it .The hotel is within
walking distance of downtown so we were able to squeeze a lot into our 2 nite
stay . The room was clean and quiet . The desk staff were accommodating when we
arrived early and left late . We were able to store our luggage and make use of
every minute in Seattle.
When we arrived I asked if there was a pay phone nearby so I could call my
family . The desk clerk insisted I use their phone as there were no public
phones handy.

My family stayed here when we were recently in Seattle while I stayed down the
street at the Holiday Inn. I was so glad that I didn't have to sleep here. This
La Quinta was the worst one I've ever been in. It hasn't been renovated like a
lot of La Quintas recently have. It was dirty and run-down, with carpet I
wouldn't stand on barefoot, stains on the bedding, and yucky substances on the
walls. Yes, it's a good price, but that doesn't make it a good value. The
Holiday Inn in basically the same neighborhood was actually a few dollars less
expensive but was about a million times better.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We are on an around the country
road trip with our dog so we've stayed in lots of places recently. La Quinta's
are often our first choice because of their pet-friendly policies. In Seattle we
wanted to stay near downtown and thought we'd probably book a different hotel
since the La Quintas we've stayed in tend to be not in downtown areas. But this
one has a good downtown location. It's possible to walk to many places of
interest from the hotel. One of the biggest bonuses is free parking. Every other
hotel I checked had at least a $35 a day parking fee. Another bonus is the very
friendly and helpful staff. They even gave our pup a treat bag.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite which had a nice view of downtown and the Space
Needle. The living room area was spacious but the bedroom was small. This was
not a problem because of the spaciousness of the other room plus there was a
pretty decent closet. The largest negative to this suite is that there is no air
conditioning unit in the bedroom-there is just a small fan on the dresser--the
only a/c unit is in the living room. It wasn't a big problem for us because the
weather was not too hot, but in hot weather this could be a problem. The
bathroom was small and could use some updating--the tub floor had a crack in it.
But everything was very clean and the bed linens and towels were fine. There was
a little bar area in the hallway with a sink, microwave and coffee maker. The
free breakfast was pretty standard La Quinta fare but was fine.
With a good price, the location, and the nice staff we would stay here again.

This was our first experience of La Quinta so we didn't know what to expect. We
checked in to a Queen Suite and it had all the facilities you would expect and
was a pleasant experience. We liked it so much we decided to stay another night.
The hotel didn't really have space but said to leave it with them and they would
see what they could do. They jiggled things around to allow us to stay in the
same room for an extra night and it made our 2 days in Seattle much easier and
more relaxing not to have to move hotels. They even let us have the same rate
for the second night. I would recommend staying here for ease and comfort.

Our family stayed at the La Quinta for 5 nights. Most attractions are within
walking distance of about .5 – 1 mile away. It took us about 20 minutes to walk
to Pike’s Place Market. The complimentary breakfast was great. My son loved
making waffles to start out his day. It’s not a fancy place to stay, but for the
price, it was worth the money. The staff was friendly; the room was clean and
close to everything (including a Whole Foods Market that was around the corner).
I would definitely recommend this hotel to other budget minded travelers like
myself.

Location is close to major attractions. We got great service when making our
reservations and things got better after we arrived. You should know parking is
at a premium and to ask for a space when making reservations. Right now there is
no extra charge for parking here but that could change at any time.

Stayed here 3 nights from Tuesday Feb 9th. Got a great rate and I slept like a
log. The toilet seats bolts were very loose and they sent somebody up right away
to fix it - they ended up replacing the whole seat. This is exactly the kind of
place I want when I am on the road myself: good beds, quiet, decent breakfast
and helpful staff. Can't ask for more. In fact, when my wife and kids and I
return in the summer, we will probably stay here.
You can walk to the space needle and take the monorail to Pioneer Square from
there, or you can walk all the way. I did the latter. Close to everything.

We stayed here specifically because of the price and because of the pet-friendly
quality. It was our first time traveling with this particular small dog, and we
are very impressed. Staff loved him, and even offered to babysit him while we
attended our concert, if he was too lonely while we were gone. The room was
spacious and while the view was of the building next door, there was a small
balcony, and we could see to the cross street. Noise control was pretty good--we
were on the 6th floor, and so that helped. The king-size bed was so comfortable,
with plenty of pillows; there were plenty of towels, and a roomy dressing area
just outside the bathroom/shower/tub. We will definitely stay here again. We
loved how close this (as far as walking distance) was to everything we wanted to
see. |
