Hotel Review of the Marqueen Hotel Seattle

The MarQueen Hotel is The hotel in the Lower Queen Anne district. I love the
area because of its bohemian up-market flair and walking distance to the Seattle
Center and performing arts district. I often select hotels like the MarQueen for
their unique style, history and charm. I have stayed before and had a pleasant
visit. This time, when I walked into my room, I immediately went to open a
window, taking advantage of the clear Seattle fresh air. Of the several windows
in my room, none were functional. The windows have been covered up with a clear
storm window, providing excellent insulation and noise abatement, but making it
impossible to open any window. When I enquired at the front desk, I was told
that all windows in the hotel had received this treatment. No where does the
hotel say that they have "hermatically sealed" every window. Old, charming
hotels like the MarQueen need fresh air. Otherwise, we are back to the tall
highrise hotels that I avoid for this very reason. If having the window open
when you sleep is an important facet of your hotel selection and stay, then,
regretfully, the MarQueen is not the place. I hope management reconsiders this
decision and makes a few rooms accessible to the fresh air, which Seattle has in
unlimitted supply.

Nothing particularly WRONG with this hotel, but not as quaint as we expected.
Big room with separate kitchenette which included a frifge and a table and
chairs. Bathroom ok but will soon need some maintenance. Location quite some way
from the city centre, but good bus service and excellent directions and help
from hotel staff.

We were very happy that we stayed at the Marqueen. Very large rooms, full
kitchen, sitting area, great bathroom; it was a nice place to rest between
out-trips. Well located near downtown, and the Queen Anne area up the hill. We
stayed on the street side on a weekend night and the room was far quieter than
you would expect from a city hotel on a busy street. Lots of amenities near by,
which is great if you plan to use the kitchen.
Old building with lots of character, but lacks an elevator. As clean as you
would hope an apartment you were moving into would be, but not sterile like the
downtown business hotels. Staff were consistantly helpful.

I live in Tacoma and stayed at the MarQueen Hotel last Saturday. I was in town
to see some Rock-N-Roll in Ballard. We arrived to the hotel and had our vehicle
parked by the Valet. It was so easy and fuss-less. There are so many options for
dining out in the immediate area, we had dinner a couple of blocks away at
Bamboo Gardens (vegetarian Chinese, delicious). The MarQueen is by far my new
favorite place to stay in Seattle! The room we had was completely sound proof
from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood below. The best part of our stay,
besides the very friendly service, was the bed. I wish I could have that good of
a night's sleep every night. I got home and wanted to burn my bed and
permanently move into the room I had at the MarQueen.

We arrived to Seattle earlier than the 3 pm check-in, however, when we called to
inquire about an early check-in, the staff was very accommodating, and
immediately had a room ready for us. The staff at the MarQueen Hotel was
excellent, the hotel had charm, good location, the room was like our own little
apartment for the week! Even though there was no elevator, it was really no
problem going up and down the stairs (even with a two year old), we were even
able to leave the stroller downstairs so we wouldn’t have to lug it up and down
everyday. We’ll definitely stay at the MarQueen when returning to Seattle.

we stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the historic hotel and bohemian surroundings.
the front staff were helpful and friendly yet professional. there are good
restaurants in the area and queen anne street provided a nice, albeit short,
stroll.
i skipped breakfast because there was little to offer (cold croissants with jam
and butter, coffee, tea, some fruit and breakfast bars) and the fitness center
was rudimentary. the parking was costly at $20 per night with no other options
(plus tip each time you take out your car and return it). also there are no
elevators. but we had no problems with street noise and i liked the kitchenette
which was convenient so overall, a good choice.

I went to Seattle with my brother, my son and his girlfriend. My son’s
girlfriend will be going to school there, and my son is looking to find work in
his field (video game design). We stayed at the Marqueen hotel because of its
location in Queen Anne, as this was where the kids wanted to look for an
apartment, which they got. :) With regards to the Marqueen, the rooms were
clean, the beds very comfortable and the staff pleasingly courteous, helpful and
professional. Located within walking distance of many local attractions and
restaurants, I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Seattle.

Stayed in Queen Anne neighborhood when I went up to Seattle to visit a friend
from college. Very convenient location for everything we wanted to do. Walking
distance to the monorail, which took us right to the shopping area and the
flagship Nordstroms. Good restaurants nearby and a cute bar across the street
from the hotel. Walking distance to Seattle Center and Key Arena.

Not too may negatives except: $20 daily parking Squeaky floors Very large room,
but the small TV was at least 30ft from my bed. It wasn’t only difficult to
view, but I had to have the volume up loud to hear it from my bed. Breakfast was
only coffee, fruit bars, or fruit. How about at least some cold cereal? The
staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The location was
good. I would probably go back, but I think I may also consider looking at other
places.

The MarQueen is a charming old hotel that appears to have been an apartment
building or rooming house in the distant past. My only complaint is that it is
across the street from several bars, whose patrons made a lot of noise when
taking cigarette breaks or going home for the evening. If you stay here, ask for
a room facing the back of the hotel. Also, management informed us that they are
replacing the old windows with double-pane, insulated windows that should cut
down on the street noise. |
