My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in early February in a lovely third
floor room. The room was quiet and quite large, with a comfortable bed, sitting
area and kitchenette (full size refrigerator, microwave, dining table).
Everything was well maintained.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, and were willing to
assist with every request - extra glassware, directions, baggage assitance,
theater tickets, etc. The location was great; many nearby restaurants plus drug
& grocery stores. Easy walk, bus ride or quick cab to downtown area. Very close
to the Seattle Center. There is a very nice wine and appetizer reception
mid-week.
A few caveats: Another couple traveling with us had a room on the street side of
the hotel and had quite a bit of street noise from a local bar/club on the
weekend. The breakfast buffet had a very limited selection. There is no
elevator.

The marqueen is listed as a three star hotel and I was really disappointed when
we arrived. It is really old and outdated, I suppose some would find that quaint
but it was loud and musty smelling. The carpets in the hallway were badly
stained. The floors in the room were wood but pretty old. The bathroom was tiny
and the flooring was this old, ratty linoleum. I was afraid to walk in the room
with bare feet. I had seen where previous reviews mentioned how loud it was
outside the hotel. It was awful. There are a couple of bars across the street
and due to the pumping music and loud voices, it felt like the bar was in my
room. Combined with the traffic on the street, the noise was unbearable. After
the first night, I asked if we could switch rooms to the inside section of the
hotel. The staff did not seem at all surprised by my request but said there were
no other rooms to switch to. I get the feeling that it is a common request. I
got stuck with this hotel by using Priceline. If you are using Priceline to find
a hotel near dowtown Seattle, stay away from Queen Ann or you will get stuck
with the Marqueen. Lake union is a much better bet. Nothing in this hotel is
nice, new, comfortable, or clean

My wife and I stayed at the MarQueen on our honeymoon. We picked it after
research on the internet. We knew it was an old building--and, like myself,
probably had some creaks and groans. It did, but we loved our stay. We found the
staff entirely friendly and the accommodations completely comfortable. We didn't
find the black-out curtains until our last day but never thought to ask. We
remember our time there with great affection and would certainly stay there on a
return trip.

We stayed at the MarQueen hotel for approx. 6 days. It was very clean and also
in a great location. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and arranged a few
restaurant reservations and a day trip for us to BC. The room had a huge kitchen
with sitting area and a separate mini-living room area. The hotel is within a
short walk to the space needle and in an area that has a lot of good
restaurants, shopping, etc. There is also a restaurant, spa and coffee shop in
the same building. I would love to stay there again if we get back to Seattle in
the future.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with my partner in October. This hotel is
beautiful its an old house which has been converted but has kept so much of its
original charm and beauty. When we arrived the receptionist was great she gave
us a map and due to the short period of time we where going to be in the city
she helped us chose things that we should definitely try to see and the quickest
and best way to fit them all in. The hotel has a free shuttle service to and
from certain tourist attractions and areas which is really handy. The hotel is
within walking distance of the harbour, the space needle and pike market. The
room we had was huge and had a kitchen area and a small sitting area and a
reasonable sized bathroom. The hotel was really clean and although it was full
on the days we were there it was really quiet. I loved this hotel and hope to
get back to Seattle for a longer length of time in the near future and will
definitely look to stay in this hotel again.

Our family stayed 3 nights in June, 2009 and we got a great deal with internet
specials that were much lower than the rates offered by calling the hotel. Our 2
rooms on the 2nd floor were spacious, well appointed, and the special
experimental windows in one of our rooms significantly reduced the noise from
the busy street below.
Several of Seattle’s finest theaters are within easy walking distance, as are
Seattle Center with the Space Needle and the Music Experience. So if you are
planning to stay more than one night to enjoy the area’s attractions, it would
be well worth the effort to check out public transportation and the hotel
shuttle schedule to perhaps avoid the cost of bringing a car. Parking expenses
can mount quickly. We paid over $40 on a single day that included shopping,
touring, dining and the hotel’s valet service.
There is no elevator in the hotel. However the valet-bell man was quick to move
our luggage up and down the stairs as needed.
The wireless internet worked well most of the time and there are numerous
outlets throughout the rooms. The temperature was easy to set and quick to
adjust. Our rooms had kitchens with in-room coffee, refrigerators, sinks,
microwaves and tables. Water pressure was reasonable and the shower-bathtub
faucets, easy to work.
Every few days, the hotel hosts a late afternoon wine and hors d’oeurves
reception that includes some very tasty local foods. The continental breakfast
is limited, but satisfactory - consisting of yogurt, orange juice, various
breads, apples and coffee. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and a
large grocery store within a short walking distance of the hotel.
The front desk staff is very helpful, but the housekeeping service is not
thorough or consistent. Our son’s room was not made up until very late in the
afternoons, conflicting with the time they wanted to dress for evening
activities. Management apologized and made an adjustment to our bill at the time
we checked out, which is always appreciated. To be fair, we should have brought
this to someone’s attention after the first incident, but we did not expect it
to happen twice.
If you plan to stay at the Marqueen, be sure to check internet hotel search
sites for special rates, leave the “please make up room” tag on the door, and
let the maid know when you expect to return to the room. Also, check out the
public transportation options. |

The staff are extremely courteous and always available. From the moment you
arrive to their saying farewell. I would recommend this hotel to abyone wanting
a personal welcome. Cindy, Andrea, Nadia & Andrew deserve special thanks for
their efforts and pleasant demeanour. The rooms were very spacious (but bathroom
small) and the location was perfect (close to Seattle Center, walking distance
to Pike's Place, shopping and everywhere in between). Unfortunately there is no
lift, but the staff were very willing to help with luggage. |

We had a comfortable mini-suite, including a full kitchen, for much less than we
would expect to pay for a location within walking distance of the Seattle
Center. Two nice grocery stores were within a block. The staff was extremely
helpful, assisting us in arranging a day trip to Mt. Rainier and a city tour.
The breakfast (included) was not the best--stale pastries in a crowded room--and
the on-premises parking was pricey ($20 a day). But these are small complaints
for a really charming place. |

The Marqueen is located in a very prime location. It was especially close to my
office and the space needle and other tourist attractions. The kitchen provided
by the hotel was absolutely amazing since we could cook our own meals. I am not
very fond of American food, hence the kitchen was a blessing in disguise. |

Great price, We paid $217 pp for two r/t tickets from SF to Seattle and the cost
of the hotel. Elegant, historic hotel, beautifully renovated. The room was
actually an entire flat, like a little apartment with a sitting area, a
king-sized comfortable bed, a kitchenette, and a nice bathroom with a heavenly
soaking tub. The hotel is in a great neighborhood, the Queen Anne district, near
the amazing Metropolitan Market, the Seattle Center and more. The hotel comes
with a free shuttle service which will take you to and from any downtown
destination in a clean, comfy van. Just give the front desk a 15 minute warning
and they will call the driver for you. There is a continental breakfast, but we
bought our own food at the market, which we enjoyed at our little kitchen table.
Definitely request a room at the back of the hotel, as the front faces the
street, which is across from a noisy, lively restaurant. I had a broken foot on
this vacation, and the staff was able to move us to a first floor room. If you
are in a wheelchair, or have mobility issues, please note there is a short
flight of stairs leading to the entrance of the hotel. There is probably a good
view from the upper floors, but the first floor had no view, but since there is
no elevator, I had no choice but the first floor! The room we had was
beautifully appointed, super quiet, and the bed was great. We loved exploring
Pikes Place Market the day before our cruise took off from Seattle to Alaska.
The cab fair to the pier #66 was under $10.00, and we took the Shuttle Express
Seattle from the airport to the hotel, which was fine and saved us some money.
The Mexican restaurant directly across from the MarQueen was very good for lunch
and the breakfasts looked good, too. It was such a luxurious hotel for the
price. There is a fitness center you can use for free across the street, which
we didn't visit. |

We've previously stayed at "historic boutique" hotels before and have been
disappointed. However, the MarQueen definitely exceeded our highest
expectations! The history behind the hotel is very interesting, and photos with
detailed captions describing the history are located throughout the hotel. The
staff was helpful, friendly, and attentive. The newly added continental
breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee! And the rooms were the best!!!
Loved the decor, large comfy bed, full kitchen (with dishes and utensils), and
lots of room! Also enjoyed the hotel-provided shampoo, conditioner, lotion,
oatmeal soap, and aromatherapy patches to assist in a restful night's sleep. The
location was great, too! Within blocks of the Space Needle and a short drive to
downtown Seattle. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again! |

I found the staff (especially the doorman) to be VERY attentive. I took more
advantage of their services than usual as I was staying at the hotel for my
brother's wedding (held off-site), and I was thoroughly impressed. They met
every reqeuest and didn't give anyone any grief over any of it.
Room rates are reasonable. They're not the cheapest you'll find in Seattle, but
for what you get, they are reasonable. Other reviews complaining seem to be out
of touch with what things cost in a city like Seattle. I've paid considerably
more for rooms in downtown that were not as large and had half the character. |

This venerable brick building served originally (in the early 1900s) as
household quarters for automobile mechanics. There were other uses before its
renovation as a hotel. Excellent value on Priceline: about $60 (vs current $149,
less 10% AAA). Old building, wood floors creaky on occasion if you care.
Occasional "bumps" perhaps in plumbing.
Downsides: Other reviewers complain of street noise but my room faced on Queen
Anne Avenue at ground level and I experienced no disturbing noise. Earplugs and
heavy drapes provided. No elevators; bell staff will help you to upper-floor (or
to any) rooms, or ask for a first-floor room.
Upsides: easy access to public transportation; a free scheduled shuttle to Pike
Market, downtown/Westlake, Convention Center, Ferry Terminal; walk to Seattle
Center/Opera House/Space Needle/Theatres. Safeway, Starbucks, Bank of America
and many restaurants within two blocks. Very spacious well-lighted rooms (I
estimate 750 sq ft, with large living/bedroom, ample kitchen/dining/work area,
sizable bathroom, walk-in closet with terry robes); king beds, sofa, big TV,
nice bathroom linens and unusual amenities, a kitchen area with dishes and
flatware, apartment refrigerator, coffee maker and coffee, microwave, sink,
charming decor. Easy working temperature adjustment. Friendly staff. Guest
laundry in sister hotel (Inn at Queen Anne), 2 blocks. Flawless free wireless
but ample for me. Generous included continental breakfast, generous hours.
Newspaper at door each morning. |
