Stayed back in 2007 for conference. Hotel was only one within walking distance
of my conference that fit my budget and had free internet.
Hotel was not part of airport-bus shuttle, and the nearest stop was 2 blocks
away.
Room was decent, in great location, and had a great view of Space Needle. Had no
issues getting on the internet connection.
One evening I returned back to the hotel to find that my room door had not
latched completely after cleaning staff had been through. Luckily nothing was
stolen and no bogeyman was there to surprise me. When I alerted the front desk,
they compensated by taking off one night's charge on my bill. Needless to say, I
kept the "Do Not Disturb" sign out.

The location is wonderful: the corner of Belltown neighborhood, 5th and
Blanchard, a few blocks from Pike Market and downtown, a few blocks from Seattle
Center/Space Needle. An awarded doughnut shop (Hot Spot) is across the street,
as are many excellent coffee shops. The staff and management are pleasant and
accommodating. Public transportation works very well and can take you all over:
Madison Valley, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, or far out of town. A serious
complaint (no hot water) was managed skillfully and quickly. Nice bedding and
towels. Lovely lobby and working internet there and printer. Simple but pleasant
on-site breakfast-lunch restaurant. Ask for a lower-level room, away from the
Fifth Avenue/Monorail traffic and noise; ask for a tub if you need one. Simple
room furnishing/old tubed-TV. The room I was in needed renovation with attention
to details of guest comfort, like the electric locations.
TROUBLING: I was unable to get any hot water my fist night in, despite the front
desk advice to “let the water run for 15 minutes,” to which I said “no.” In
reality, there’s plenty of hot water; had I turned the spigot to COLD (tried and
did not work after 5 minutes) and let it run for ten minutes, that action would
have brought water from the lower-level boiler to the fifth floor. The spigot
was detached and reversed in the morning. But the hot water situation on a
late-night arrival led to little sleep and a lot of frustration and anger.
Electrical outlets should be accessible ON THE DESK, but are underneath, where
one must crawl, only to find that the laptop plug will not stay in the outlet.
This too was fixed in the morning. Internet service is spotty, run by a vendor.
Easy sign on to wireless, and free; but snail-like speed (0.8 KB/sec) at
unpredictable times and not related to demand. 0.8 KB/sec is insufficient for
email and most business sites. Other times a better 25-50 KB/sec. This is not
good by home standards but not bad for hotels. Hourly parking or overnight
parking is expensive (as in all downtown hotels) but street parking is free
after 6 pm and metered before that, often available. Unless you really need a
car, don’t bring one.
NOTED BUT EVENT BEYOND HOTEL’S CONTROL: Morning of last day, a fire alarm rang
at 930 AM. It was accompanied by no PA announcement so guests were left
wondering what to do. Flooding in basement boiler room set off alarm, had to be
reset by Fire Department. When I left the floors by stairs, many rooms on my
floor had been left open. Occupied? Not? Afterwards, water ran yellow and when I
asked for water at front desk, a bottle was provided immediately.

We stayed here for a concert at the Key Arena, and the one thing I will say, is
that it is within walking distance of the Key Arena. Thta is the only nice thing
I can say about the place. Let me list the worst:
1. The non slip pad in the bath/shower looked like an antique and I think was
supposed to be white at one time. It was filthy and slicker than the actual
shower. Yuchh!
2. The few electrical plugs in the room, were so loose You would plug in your
laptop cord and the plug would literally fall out. For some unknown reason the
plugs were bad. You could here an audible electrical snap when you plugged in or
it fell out... Doesn't sound safe to me, but you be the judge.
3. The sheets were thin enough to read the newspaper through. They did however
put two sheets over the blanket. You know one on top and one under. That was to
hide the cigarette burns in the blanket. I did not smell smoke, so maybe this
room hadn't ben smoked in.
4. The mattress itself was old, and you could feel the springs through the
bedding.

We stayed in the Ramada for one night after flying from Manchester in the UK.
The hotel was everything that we needed, with good rooms and friendly staff. On
arrival the receptionist was particularly helpful, asking us if we had visted
Seattle before and providing us with lots of useful information and his own
opinions on the best places to visit. He was able to advise us on the best local
places to eat and drink. The room was comfortable, and had all necessary
amenities including a large safe which was great for us when travelling with a
laptop.
The hotel is ideally suited for the bars and restaurants of Belltown (we
particularly enjoyed the Noodle Ranch and Lava Lounge), and is right in the
Downtown area.
Overall this is a really good option, especially if you can get a good deal

Stayed 6 nights at the Ramada in October. Staff were friendly and the rooms,
whilst being quite dated were clean and spacious.
If you are looking for a reasonable priced room in a central location I would
highly recommend the Ramada.

Was pleasantly surprised! Upon arrival was met by friendly, efficient and
courteous staff at the desk and check-in was quick. They asked if I had visited
Seattle before - "No" - so out came a map and they indicated on it all places of
interest and how long it would take to walk or go by cab. The room on the 4th
floor was clean and well presented, with an outlook onto the street. The
monorail went by but the noise is much exaggerated - a low rumble lasting about
3 - 4 seconds and was not a problem. Found the cafe in the hotel to be staffed
by pleasant people and meals were good and service excellent. I liked the
hotel's location - within walking distance of the waterfront and other main
tourist attractions. My only problem was getting back to the airport - had to
catch the shuttle back to the airport and this left from the nearby (100 metres
away) Warwick Hotel. Left hotel at 6.00am and walked in light rain - could not
blame this on the hotel however! For those who whinge about no porters - well
try to be a little more independent - I had 2 bags and with the lifts being near
check-in and my room only a short walk along the corridor this was not an issue.
Would certainly stay there again.

Stayed two nights after a cruise. Location is five blocks from Pikes Market and
five blocks from Spaceneedle. That is all this place has going for it. No
bellman to help with luggage and front desk staff unfriendly and no help with
anything. Ask directions and was handed a map without comment.
Rooms are old and dirty. Furniture to stained to sit on. Paint pealing in
bathroom. Very old television and the remote did not work. Walls very thin and
hallways dark and dirty. You have seen this hotel or one like it in many B
horror movies.
Food in restaurant all fried and of poor quality. No vegetarian options, fresh
fruit, etc.
If you want a bed and a shower and nothing else, this is the place for you.
This place has nothing but location going for it. Will be the last $340 they
ever get out of me. Ramada should be embarrassed. |

Okay hotel if you are not planning on spending too much time in the room. Very
basic room is all you get but it is clean. There is also a lot of street noise,
when we were there someone's car alarm went on every ten minutes or so starting
at 5:00 AM until almost 10:00 AM. And one last note: DO NOT GO TO THE CAFE
(ESPRESSO-MIDTOWN) ACROSS THE STREET!!!! The girl working behind the counter was
too tired to serve us. We repeated our order several times while she gazed out
the window into the street. We ordered a coffee and were contemplating ordering
breakfast there. She poured our coffee into a ceramic cup as we were going to
drink it there with breakfast. We decided not to order breakfast and she
pointedly asked us immediately if we wanted a to go cup. I guess we were no
longer allowed to stay??? Anyways, she was very rude to both my husband and I
and I told her so. She immediately countered with "You are unique in your
opinion". Nice. We left and will never go back to that place. P.S. The coffee
wasn't very good either, which would explain the lack of customers every time we
passed there. |

My wife and I just returned from a short trip to Seattle. We stayed at the
Ramada Inn downtown and had a wonderful time. The hotel room was nice, decent
decor, clean bathroom, tv with only 19 channels, but if you've come all the way
to Seattle and you plan on spending a lot of time in the room, then I think
there is inherently something wrong with your travel plans. The hotel is about 5
or 6 blocks from the Pike Place Market and even closer to the Seattle Center
(and the Space Needle). It is located close to several major bus routes and from
our experience, was pretty much within decent walking distance of everything
that you'd want to see in the city. We did not eat in the hotel's restaurant,
but it seemed to be filled every morning. The good news for more price-concerned
travelers is that there is a Ralph's Grocery Store about 1 block up and 1 block
over from the Ramada. The store has a variety of prepared meals and frozen
goodies that you could easily take back to the hotel and warm up. There is a
microwave in the lobby that works well and is open for everyone's use. There is
some street noise (since the hotel is on 5th avenue which is a very popular
street), and the only noise that we ever heard was that of the monorail zipping
by. It went by about every 15-20 minutes during the day, but it zoomed past the
window and was gone in less than 10 seconds or so. I liked being able to see it
pass by, kind of gave the experience a weird sci-fi vibe. Honestly, for the
price and the location, I don't think that you'll find a better hotel. It is
very safe, close to everything you'd want to see, and is very comfortable to
come home to at the end of the day. This was our first trip to Seattle and I was
not disappointed by this hotel in any way. I would definitely stay there again
when we go back to Seattle.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Ramada Downtown Seattle for seven
nights. Overall, we had a good experience at the hotel. We were looking for a
reasonably priced hotel downtown, within walking distance to Pike's Place and
all downtown attractions. If you are looking for a basic hotel that is clean and
convenient, then this hotel will most likely meet your needs. The hotel is old
and very basic, but I found it pretty clean (and I am very picky). There are no
frills, but that was OK - as we were only in the hotel at night. My only
complaint is the parking garage (as you have read in other reviews). The parking
is extremely tight and it is hard to maneuver in the garage. Other than that, we
had no complaints. There is an odor in the hotel (due to its age), but I brought
a room spray to diffuse it. Hotel staff seemed courteous. There is an awesome
donut shop (Top Pot Donuts) right by the hotel for breakfast. We could be
anywhere we wanted to go downtown within minutes. Also, the interstate is not
far away - which made it convenient for day trips outside the city. I would
recommend this hotel to others that do not mind not being in a luxury hotel.
Overall advantages are its cleanliness, convenience, and reasonble price.
Another comment is that we found the hotel very quiet. Some of the other reviews
are contrary to this. We slept very peacefully and did not encounter any noise
throughout our seven nights, even with it being over Memorial Day. |

We visited Seattle over a holiday weekend and stayed at the Ramada. The room is
ok. Our shower didn't have a barrier to keep the water from the rest of the
bathroom but maybe it was because our room was wheelchair accesible. Still the
bathroom didn't get as wet. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is very well
located near downtown and close to the main attractions. It's very well
connected by public transportation, too. |

I live in Vancouver and wanted a cheap weekend getaway to Seattle. We chose the
Ramada because it was central and cheap. It was a no frills hotel, and the
location was good. We had problems at check-in (they didn't have our
reservation) but it was settled. The cleaners also accidentally threw out one of
my belongings, which was annoying, and the hotel didn't compensate me as I
couldn't really attach any value to the item. At the time I thought it was fine
for the price, but with all the great deals right now, you can get a much better
hotel for a similar price (noticed the 4 and 5 star hotels have dropped their
prices significantly). I would only stay here if the price is right. |
