Hotel Review of the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle

Rooms are renovated but not the rest of the hotel.... It is located next to the
highway at the upper limit of downtown...
Sip is a winebar-restaurant located nearby which is great!

This hotel is on a hill so if you plan to walk from the hotel to the many nearby
attractions, be ready to work your quad muscles, because walking up the hill can
be literally breathtaking:) I am exaggerating a bit, but it is a leg workout
nonetheless. The lobby areas are nicely decorated in a modern design, there is a
nice bar and lounge area with a big flat screen TV where I watched people eating
dinner in front of. The 28th floor has a restaurant with beautiful city views
and it also has a small fitness facility and salt water or saline pool (I can't
remember which). It is a 15 min walk to the monorail which takes you to the
Space Needle and lots of shopping and restaurants along the way. Also the hotel
is just a hop, skip and jump to the modern public library. One drawback it that
it is located next to a freeway, so if you're smog sensitive perhaps this is not
the place for you.

I really liked the Renaissance Seattle - had a room with a view towards the
space needle. Highly recommended. Very nice rooms, friendly staff, unfortunately
the hotel is located a bit far from major tourists attractions, so be prepared
to walk a bit (uphill ;-). service was very friendly and rooms clean,
comfortable and stylish. great view over the Seattle skyline! a modern and
comfortable place, highly recommended for everyone who likes to enjoy Seattle,
visit museums, go shopping, etc.

This place was just great for a quick business trip to Seattle. It is centrally
located near restaurants, business area, and tourist attractions. The rooms look
like they were update recently and the common areas are very nice. We help
several meetings in the hotel and the staff were very helpful. The food was
excellent. Ask for a room away from the highway. Mine was facing in the
direction of the highway and you do get road noise. One thing that annoyed me -
the charge for internet usage. Why do i still need to pay for this when budget
hotels give it away? Outrageous to charge what they do

Great room, great location. My only complaint was parking. Their parking garage
only holds vehicles 6'2" and below. I had to park down the road and my own
failure to check the hours of the parking garage resulted in my trying to
convince the security guard to let me get my car out...

Early arrival (7:30am) after a six hour plane ride. Greeted getting out of the
cab and even before I reached the front desk the receptionist had a smile on her
face. They greatly me like they really expected me and said my room was
available!! WOW. I had a great corner unit and got excited! Business travelers
don't normally get such a deal. Room was clean, bed and pillows comfortable and
didn't once have to adjust the thermostat!! Remained at a cool 68 for my entire
week's stay. Attended a training class the entire week held at the hotel. Loved
that it was kiddie corner to the public library. The only dislike was the steep
hill--but that was nothing in comparison to staying at the hotel. Staff was
friendly. Dining in room service -- 15 minutes flat! I'd stay here again!!

A good location for anyone who is trying to get a neutral walking friendly
location. With the exception of the Space Needle you can walk to most
attractions including Pike Place Market and the stadiums. We were treated
exceptionally by the staff, which really made this property shine. We felt like
it was five-star white-glove treatment, the rooms were more on par with the 4*
rating and the room could have been cleaner (windows/bathroom were a bit dirty
upon check-in) but we did get a corner king upgrade with a fantastic bedroom
panoramic view of the city. Be careful of the “On Demand” Network TV Shows – you
will be charged without even seeing the price or a confirmation screen. Also,
you can park on the street from 6pm to 8am for free and there is plenty of
spots. If you go for a weekend, Sunday parking is also free.

I loved my recent stay at the Renaissance. It seemed like the majority of the
guests were there for conferences (many held at the hotel), but I really enjoyed
it for my vacation base. The location is great with easy walking distance to the
waterfront, Pike Place, great shopping and restaurants. The rooms were a little
small but very nice, with large flat screen tvs, extremely comfortable beds, and
furnishings that seemed new. Service at the hotel was outstanding and is what I
think really sets this hotel at a higher level than some of the other chains at
similar to slightly lower prices. The breakfast buffet was really good, and we
enjoyed both hotel bars (one on the first floor and one on the top floor).
Drinks were a bit expensive but tasty, and the views from the top floor were
nice. My room was on the freeway side but the noise didn't bother me at all. It
was just like a steady buzz.
I booked this with a good deal that included free breakfast for two (buffet)
each day plus a 25$ Visa gift card for each night I stayed. I think that with
these perks the value was excellent.

I am very torn here, I really enjoyed my time at the renaissance, the staff was
nice, the room was comfortable but there was one thing that really ruined the
entire experience for me and sadly is enough for me to give only 1 star to the
hotel.
I was in the Lobby bar/coffee stand place and the guy mixing my drinks was
obviously very sick (red nose, puffy eyes, sounded like something was stuck in
his throat). I was concerned so I asked why he hadn't called in sick. I was
told,
"I woke up late today and couldn't call in." I asked why, he said "If we don't
call in 2 hours before our scheduled shift we get written up. One of my
coworkers was just fired for it"
WHAT?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Isn't there some way to make an exception for
this poor guy? It started making me think, if they force someone who works in
the food/beverage part of the hotel to work when this sick, do I have horrible
germs from a just as sick maid all over my sheets because she had the audacity
to get as much sleep as possible before coming into work at the ungodly early
hour they make housekeepers come in? Did the front desk clerk who so friendly
shook my hand have H1N1 Virus all over his palm?
Honesty, the IDEA that someone at this Hotel HAS to come into work when sick
just because they are so rude as to wake up with just enough time to get ready
and go to work is so disgusting it has made me decide to NEVER go back. If you
care about your health you will spend your money at a place that cares about the
well being of their guests.
