Good location - halfway between Pike's Market and Seattle Center. But that also means you need to walk to get to either one.
Room was fine. Older, nothing fancy, kinda tight for a family of five. Nice to have a fridge. Quiet at night.
Very helpful and friendly staff at the front desk - they gave us lots of local suggestions for restaurants and activities.
Two computers in the lobby available to guests. Handy!
Our view was across a parking lot to the 'Gentleman's Club' across the street. We didn't explain what that was about to the kids. :)

We had a really good experience staying in this hotel. We recommend it to everybody. Near to all facilities, tourist attractions and shopping in Seattle.
Personnel at front desk very kind, helpful and welcoming.
We stayed in this hotel for 2 days (July, 11-13) and we really appreciated our time there. Our room was big enough for 4 people.

We were looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in Seattle, that was centrally located, and that wouldn't break our budget. We were not sure what to expect given the poor (but dated) reviews, but decided to try it. We are glad we did; a clean comfortable room, with an excellent staff to help us navigate mass transit. Be sure to request a refrigerator and microwave when you make your reservation.

We were looking for a convenient, value-priced hotel for an overnight prior to a recent cruise (May 2010), and found it at the Sixth Avenue Inn. Since we had not previously been to Seattle, we wanted a central location that would allow us to walk to major attractions such as Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. Sixth Avenue Inn is within an easy walk of both. The helpful and friendly staff made our stay there even more enjoyable and memorable. We arrived early and were able to check our luggage in a secure room which allowed us the afternoon to explore the city. Now that service alone is not unexpected in any hotel, but the manner in which it was handled left us feeling welcomed and cared-for. If you are looking for a value-priced lodging to overnight before or after a cruise, I highly recommend the Sixth Avenue Inn.

Was concerned about booking this hotel based on some reviews here but we left the hostel in search of a better deal. We asked to see one of the rooms before we booked and our person was more then happy to oblige. The rooms have some new furniture and are very clean, however there is still some wear and tare. We booked in and found out that a Costco card saved us quite a bit per night resulting in a total cost of about $65.00/night. Amazing when compared to our private hostel room which was clean but had a bunk bed but lacked a private bath in an inconvenient location at 99/night. One concern that I share with some other reviewers was the street noise. This is greatly reduced by closing the heavy curtains (which result in a pitch black room) and the noise I did hear was completely tolerable. I am sure this is the best value in Seattle and will be returning.
The Good: Awesome value, Very Clean, Location and the best service ever!
The Not so Good: but still totally tolerable: Somewhat rundown, and some street noise. Also, a three machine fitness center...but it didn't seem busy.
The verdict: Had great sleeps and I will be back.

We stayed at Sixth Avenue Inn two-nights for a Michael Buble Easter concert. Unfortunately when we arrived, the hotel had given us two single-bed rooms instead of ones with two-queen beds. The room director had said that 3rd party companies promise a room-type, when in fact it's just a room-request -- actual availability can only be guaranteed by the Hotel. We've booked via companies like Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity and hotwire for 10 years and have never had this excuse given to us; besides, when the invoice specifically stated that we had selected a room with two-queen beds as opposed to one, it really is not supposed to be the customer's problem to deal with. Because the Sakura-con Anime convention was happening that same weekend, the entire hotel was booked solid. Management had offered us roll-away beds, but room service ran it up to the wrong suite. Since our key-cards kept demagnetizing, we ended up taking several trips to verify this. In the end, they refunded us one day's parking fee for our troubles ($15) after some lengthy discussion at the front-desk.
Location was nice, within blocks to dining (Dahlia Lounge/Lola/Pacific Kitchen) and about sixth blocks walk to Pike's Market/shopping. There is a Mcdonald's right across the street for convenience. However, our rooms were facing a strip club next door.
Walls & windows weren't insulated enough -- We could hear outside ambulance/police sirens, and talking/speaking in the hallways. Having seen four rooms, we found that there was inconsistency in how the rooms were setup: some had fridges while some didn't, some had different placements for AC plugs, and all had three pillows per bed (not four)
Parking is $15 for downtown, about standard. Free internet wifi was a plus.
Primarily due to the hotel booking mixup, we will not be staying here and advise our friends/family to avoid this hotel in their Seattle stays. There are simply too many other options elsewhere downtown to overlook this experience.

So long as Sixth Avenue Inn keeps their prices low, this is an AMAZING value.
I don't know what some of you people expect. Your reviews are really off the mark. Some of you people think you can pay $50 for a five star hotel and I don't know why your expectations are so skewered. You get what you pay for.
With the Sixth Avenue Inn, you actually get a significant value for $50 a night (what I paid).
First, the hotel is situated in a fantastic location, just blocks from Pikes Place Market and shopping centers, close to the freeway (for those with a rental car), and close enough to the action but far enough away from the chaos.
The hotel has clearly been renovated and the lobby is quite nice. The outside looks rather shabby but once you walk in, you're greeted to bright lights and a very friendly staff. The staff was fantastic and accommodating, and especially the cleaning staff was lovely.
As for the room itself, I had a Queen room and it was a big, cushy room, more than ample. The carpets looked new, as did all of the furnishing. Do you get a mint on your pillow and lots of amenities? No, but hello, you're paying far less for it.
I really only needed a room to rest my head as I was out of the hotel for 18 hours of the day. So I was thrilled with my room.
I will say that the BIGGEST downside to this hotel is that the walls/floorboards seem to be VERY VERY thin. I could not get much sleep because I could hear the person above me stamping back and forth in their room. I have to assume that all they were doing was walking back and forth but I could hear it very loudly. Initially, I was pretty upset and considered asking to have my room changed. But then I guess I got used to it and ended up just dealing with it. But next time, I will probably change rooms and not be so lazy about it. I am sure that the staff would have changed my room for me.
Also, there were really loud, drunk people in my hallway but they didn't wake me up as I got in late myself. They quieted down after a while so I have to assume management took care of them.
The bathrooms are a bit small here but it's not a big deal.
Wireless Internet access is free and the service was pretty good. They appeared to have two computers in the lobby with Internet service. There is also room service and a restaurant attached but I did not try either.
Between the loud floorboards and the thin walls, plus the street noise, this hotel can be a bit noisy and I'd strongly suggest earplugs. But you really cannot beat this deal for downtown Seattle.
I found plenty of street parking for my rental car. They do charge $15 for parking.
Again, the location is key. Being within walking distance to Pikes Place is a real luxury. Plenty of places to eat, drink, and enjoy Seattle. The area is more than safe and I was walking around at 2 am (I got hungry) and felt fine.
I would definitely come here again, despite the loud floorboards. I'll just bring earplugs.
