Lady and I stayed at the Warwick Hotel in downtown Seattle in September. We
loved it! It's older and it had tons of character. We loved opening up the
sliding glass door to walk out on to the balcony. We loved being in the middle
of all the action too. Pike's place was only a couple blocks away. Bring your
walking shoes!

We found this hotel on the internet after doing some research for a hotel with a
good location in Seattle. We didn't want to rent a car so the location of this
hotel was great. We were able to walk to Pike's, the Needle and all sorts of
restaurants and shopping. By the way, there is an excellent Italian restaurant
just a half block up from the Warwick, Assaggio's, it's a must do! But for
$88/night we got a room with a city view on the 15th floor. They even
accommodated us to be right across the hall from family members who we met there
for the weekend. The decor is a little dated and it could use some updating. But
we had one of the best experiences there with the friendly and helpful staff. We
will definitely stay there again.

lI had read in the reviews that rooms that they allocate for some "best-rates"
in the internet can face a wall. This is exactly what happened to us in our
weekend get-away. We booked our room on expedia for 99$ and we were given a room
on the 4th floor which they said was a "corner room": facing the wall of the
parking garage next door. Well, we had to go and ask for another room and we did
get another one on the sixth floor, this time, facing not the wall of the
garage, but the garage itself.. So, it might be better to spend a bit more and
get a Space needle view room. Otherwise as you check in you might want to ask
for a room on level 7 or above.
Otherwise, the hotel staff was helpful and they did end up changing our room.
The room itself was clean and spacious enough. The bathroom was also nice, it
was all marble. No mini-bar but a refrigerator if you want to keep some food in
there. Walking distance to pretty much everything unless you are lazy. And if
you are lazy, there is always a cab waiting in front of the hotel for a 5 bucks
ride to Space Needle.
They charge $11 for using the internet (24 hours period).
So, if you can avoid one of those rooms facing the wall (levels 4 and 5) or
almost at the same level with the parking garage (level 6) then you should be
fine. We would probably stay here again.
Seattle has lots of terrific 4-star Hotel choices. The Warwick just isn't one.
The rooms all have balconies (11 inches of standing space for a late-night
cigarette), nice sheets and marble baths. Those are the pros. The hotel is also
conveniently located downtown.
On the down side, the hotel is astonishingly dirty, worn and tired. I'm not a
princess, but the abundant food/liquor/coffee/barf stains on the furniture and
carpet throughout the common areas are overwhelming. The walls themselves are
grimy, in the elevator, in the halls and to some degree in the rooms. The
service staff exemplifies this same description: worn and tired. They are all
nice enough, but they have little reason to be especially enthusiastic about the
product their representing.
For some reason it has been given a 4 star rating by SOME entity that clearly
has never been there. It is completely sub-par at that level of expectation, but
to its credit, if you're a tourist in Seattle, on a budget, looking for
convenience and an 11 inch balcony, then bring your anti-bacterial wipes and
stay at the Warwick.

Checked in this weekend with my husband for a relaxing weekend away from home
and it turned out to be a hassle!
To begin with upon checking in the desk attendant asked for a card to hold the
room. After she ran my debit card she notified me that they would be holding the
amount of the room, taxes and incidentals on my card for an un-disclosed amount
of time. I asked if it was too late to give her a credit card instead and she
said it wouldn’t be a problem. So we gave her a credit card and assumed she had
canceled our debit card transaction.
Then she asked if we would be checking a car for our stay, I told her that we
wouldn’t. Less than two minutes later she finished the paperwork and gave it to
my husband to sign, she had set up charges for parking for two days at $27 a
day. Luckily he read it before signing for the charges. Which we later found out
many guests didn't take the time to read and ended up having to dispute charges
on their bill at the end of the weekend. When we again told her that we didn't
have a car she said it must have been a mistake because it was something we did
when we booked the room. That was very strange to us since we booked through
Amtrak and obviously wouldn't have a car in Seattle!!
When we got to our room we asked for the key to the mini bar. When we opened it
there was already liquor missing from the mini bar. To avoid getting charged for
that too we had to inventory the mini bar and call the front desk to let them
know. We haven’t seen any unexpected charges on the credit card yet. Knock on
wood!
The hotel albeit mostly outdated served its purpose and was close to everything
that we wanted to do in Seattle. Sunday morning came and we waited through the
slough of guests that were in the lobby disputing “hidden” charges on their room
bills and paid our bill.
After getting home we found out that they had in fact charged our debit card
almost $500 dollars. Now I have to deal with my bank to get the charge reversed
because the person who is "able to help me" with the charges to our card is
conveniently not in today.
While most of the things that happened weren’t the end of the world but
ultimately they turned a carefree weekend trip in to a major hassle. It felt
like the hotel was looking for every opportunity to squeeze extra money out of
people that may have not been paying attention to their bill. Sadly we won’t be
returning to the Warwick again because the location was nice but there are
pleantly of other hotels in the area.

I almost didn't make reservations here based on some of the reviews. Luckily,
there are some reviews on here that told me not to listen to the negative ones -
just like I'm saying now!! The place was great! Amazing location - super
friendly staff - we couldn't have asked for a better hotel.
The only one negative thing I found with the hotel, was that they still offer
smoking rooms, and mix them in with the non-smoking rooms. Someone was smoking
in a room on our hall, and we could really smell it when we came out in the
hall. I'm very sensitive to smoke, so the smell may not have been as strong to
other people.
But that still wouldn't stop me from staying at the Warwick every future visit
to Seattle. It's just too good of a deal to pass up!!!! |
