Hotel Review of the Inn at Harbor Steps Seattle
6 December 2011
We stayed at the Inn over a long weekend in December, 2011, a very slow time for
Seattle. The property is part of an apartment tower. There are 30 guest rooms.
The room was quiet and comfortable, but I can't give the hotel more than an
average rating due to the issues noted above.
The location is FABULOUS. Across the street from the Seattle Art Museum, one
block from the light rail to the airport. A couple of blocks from the Pike
Street Market.

Loved this place on our recent stay in Seattle. Very close to Pike's Market,
everything downtown, and 10 minute walk to space needle and baseball/football
stadiums. Great view from our room of Puget Sound. Room was HUGE and nice - free
breakfast was a great touch with good variety of food - much more than
"continental" as they served two egg dishes, oatmeal, etc. Buildings were secure
and safe. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

This place is a good location, with good staff. It is generally quiet, and
offers a reasonably good breakfast.
However, it is obvious that some money needs to be spent. The carpets are
stained. Things are showing age. And the air-conditioning is only barely
functioning.

After reading the reviews, I was hoping for something special. We got a lot more
than that. The hotel is really the bottom floor of a modern high-rise apartment
building and offers all it's amenities. Our room was really a suite overlooking
a lovely garden. The ceilings were probably twelve feet tall with comparable
widows and there was a kitchen with a full size refrigerator (with two free
bottles of water chilled inside). Furnishings were modern and comfortable. Free
wi-fi is available but requires a cable (which they will loan to you).
Delightful full breakfast is offered every morning and late afternoon there is a
selection of wine, cheeses, cakes, specialty teas, etc. On Friday night the
building has a generous free bar-b-q with wine and all the trimmings.. and the
hotel guests are invited to join-in. The location is excellent, across the
street from the Seattle Art Museum which is a top grade museum with an excellent
variety of art. If you step out the front door of the hotel and immediately turn
left, you can walk a short way to a public elevator that will take you down to
waterfront level (avoiding all the steps....use it to get back up) and a short
block takes you to the waterfront with many tourist attractions... an excellent
restaurant.. and several different harbor cruise boats. You can walk down the
same street as the hotel and in a few blocks you'll be in the market section
where you can watch them "throw the fish". Best of all are the front desk young
ladies who are as friendly and capable as they are, attractive. |
