Hotel Review of the Marqueen Hotel Seattle

Well, I like this sort of place. It has lots of character, visible wood, scrolly
frilly decor, dramatic entrance lobby that makes you feel you've arrived at
least somewhere. I didn't have too much chance to explore the neighborhood, but
my local host drove me around a bit and pointed out all the great eateries and
coffee shops (Seattle is pretty old school; I half-expected to hear poetry and
bongos). Plus it's near the Seattle Center, with all the stuff happening there.
I found the room very comfortable, and the kitchenette was terrific, with
utensils, dish ware, everything exceptionally clean. I mean you could easily
live here a week. Room was big, but there was no desk in the main room, just
chairs and a cabinet that held an old-style CRT TV (but with a good selection of
cable). Floor creaked along the entryway. Bath was fine, stocked with shampoo;
water was kinda hot, or say just hot enough. Closet was a big walk-in affair. No
elevator, if that matters. I'd definitely stay here again. Price was great.
Accommodations quite adequate. Atmo pleasing.

Lovely old building with tremendous character, lots of space and an EXCELLENT
location. Market, drugstore, and ER nearby. Fabulous restaurants across each
street. Close to wharf and Needle. Used hotwire and then upgraded upon check-in.
I will be back!

We stayed here for 6 nights on our vacation to Seattle. My husband said he felt
like he stepped into another time when we entered the lobby. It is an old
building that has been well talked care of. The rooms have lots of space which
is great for longer stays. The staff was really helpful. I slept much better
than I usually do in hotels; we didn't hear much noise from outside at all. If
you are accustomed to staying in modern hotels, be aware that there are a few
quirks that come with staying in an older building, such as variable water
temperature in the shower and lack of counter space in the bathroom. The
breakfast offerings were limited, but there is a refrigerator in the room and a
few stores within walking distance, not to mention great restaurants nearby.
This is a great location - many attractions are within walking distance, and
there is a bus stop nearby. Overall we had a great stay.

Got a great deal on this hotel through Priceline, but is worth the full price.
The location is great, the staff is wonderful. It is an older building and
hotel, so there are some quirks that go with that (you'll see the signs in the
bathroom)...but you are walking distance to the Space Needle in a great
neighborhood...would go back again.

We stayed three nights at the Marqueen in August. As we drove up our daughter
said, "that is the ugliest hotel ever" as its boxy brick appearance is not very
impressive from the outside. The inside is well cared for and the building has a
subtle charm. The urban location is great, next to restaurants and an upscale
food market (similar to Whole Foods) , the room kitchen very useful. We were
able to easily walk to elegant residential neighbourhoods, parks as well as to
downtown. Hotel was clean and staff helpful and friendly. A good value and we'd
absolutely stay there again. |
