Hotel Review of the Holiday Inn Express Seattle
June 17, 2011
We spent 2 nights here for my daughter's bday. We did a lot of sightseeing and had so much fun in Seattle. The hotel however, was the only bad part about our weekend. We checked in on Friday night which was very busy (expectedly). The front staff was friendly. Our room was located right off of the elevators and ice machines. Although we were close to the foot traffic of that floor, the first night was ok. The room was clean and the size wasn't too bad. I got over the shock of no fridge or microwave. The second night was bad!!! The had a party going on in the room next to us and it was LOUD! This was an adjoining room, meaning that the wall diving our room had a large door in it. The sound just traveled right through it. I was very patient for about an hour at 2am. Finally at 3, I called the front desk and politely explained. They did nothing. My neighbors decided to move some of the party to the hallway and in front of my room. I gave it another 20 minutes and I was getting upset. I told the front desk that I was concerned that my children would wakeup. About 5 minutes later, a security guard came up and told them that he had a complaint and proceeded to tell them that people complain all the time about nothing and shakes their hands and left while the drunk guys were still out in the hallway (and in front of my room). About 10 minutes later, it gets really loud and (of course) they woke up my kids. I was so pissed that the hotel was doing NOTHING. I peeked my head out of the door and asked them to please take it somewhere else because my kids had been woken up. They were apologetic and after a couple of minutes left the hallway and their room. I told the staff in the morning and they took off my parking charges for the 2 days($20). We will not be staying here again!

Everything you expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Once we arrived, we didn't need the car for town. A nice 15-minute walk to the Space Needle. The monorail leaves the Space Needle and heads to Westlake Center, where you can pick up the light rail that goes through town. We used it without problem to see a show at the football stadium. Parking ($10 per night) at the hotel was packed, with security telling us to parked in unmarked spaces underground. Our room had a great view of the Space Needle, as the building faces this tourist attraction broadside, so I imagine that half of the rooms share a great view. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and stocked. TV was a flat screen with basic cable. Enjoyable stay.

What a nice little hotel for a terrific price! We stayed here for a couple of nights after returning from a cruise. The rooms were nice and the front desk staff was very helpful. It is only a short walk to the Space Needle. They have a nice breakfast buffet included. We arrived early and our rooms were ready and they let us check in, it was nice to get a little settled before heading out. The front desk staff was top notch, will help you with planning to get where you need to be. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Plus, free wi-fi.

The front of the hotel faces a very busy street so try to get a room facing the back if you're sensitive to noise. The downside is that the back of hotel is only 10 yards away from the hotel next door, so there is no view at all. But the back side is very quiet.

Overall, nice, fairly new, well located hotel with a decent breakfast. Also, the $10 charge for parking was much less than other downtown 2.5 to 3 star hotels.

The hotel is actually located on a smaller street that is right next to Hwy 99 so you can't access it from the highway. An alternative to entering from Aurora is to enter from Dexter Ave and just drive through the Holiday Inn to reach the HI Express.

Stayed here for three nights in May prior to leaving on an Alaskan cruise. Check in was easy, the staff was friendly. Our room was on the 5th floor with a terrific view of the Space Needle. The hotel was within easy walking distance to the Space Needle and the monorail. There is a restaurant in the Holiday Inn next door and a Whole Foods about 3 blocks away. The complimentary breakfast had the standard fare. Overall we had a great stay and would absolutely recommend.
