Hotel Review of the Sorrento Hotel Seattle
June 23, 2011
My husband had business in Seattle and I accompanied him for the two night
visit. The hotel was charming, the staff very efficient and made us feel most
welcome. Loved the older type hotel, had a charming ambiance, nice break from
big chain hotels. Location is good, short walk to waterfront, plenty of cafes
nearby to get espresso, speaking of coffee they had French press in room to make
coffee which was a very nice touch. We valeted our car at the hotel, it is more
than the public parking garages but not by much and when you consider you have
access to your car 24/7 worth the extra money, valets were quick and very nice.
We did not dine at the hotel, but I did use the gym which was good for a hotel.
Part of my visit I choose to just stay in the room rather than walk around city
because I found it so comfortable and appealing. Usually do not do reviews, but
thought this hotel deserved it. Both my husband and I would look forward to
staying there again.

My wife and I recently spent three nights at the hotel while we were attending a
medical conference held at Swedish Medical Center. Everything about the hotel
was excellent. The bell desk and valet parking staff were very polite, quick and
efficient. The front desk acted like they were happy to see us and always said
hello when we went past them. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable
and was very quiet and very clean. We enjoyed the Fireside Room for a pre-dinner
drink and cheese plate. The Hunt Club restaurant served us a great meal with a
nice wine selection. After dinner drinks in the bar were fun. Because of our
daily medical meetings we were unable to enjoy the afternoon tea, so we will try
to return at a time we can enjoy this as well. Overall, everyone working at the
hotel was extremely professional and pleasant and we will be back.

The staff made our stay fabulous and memorable. While it is an older hotel, the
service and attention by the staff makes this a 5 star hotel in book. The staff
is friendly and attentive. Our room was wonderful and the linens were fabulous.
My husband and I decided to stay locally for our anniversary and the staff went
above and beyond to make our stay a wonderful one. I will recommend this hotel
to any friends and family looking for luxury and old world charm.

The Sorrento Hotel is quite away from the touristy waterfront attractions being
just to the east of I-5, the interstate that bisects the city. It's an older
hotel but has been very well maintained. Service is extremely good in all areas
and functions.
The remoteness is not a handicap - there is a courtesy car that will gladly take
you to downtown or tourist areas of the city. And many excellent restaurants are
within easy reach of the hotel, sitting where it does close to the capitol hill
district. Almost like enjoying the best of both worlds, so to speak.
Readers of my reviews will note that I often gripe about the "nickel-and-diming"
attitude of charging for time on computers and printers at a hotel's business
center. Not at the the Sorrento... they care about their guests and are not into
petty stupidity! Business center facilities are free of charge.
The atmosphere, decor and ambiance is classy and of a superior grade. There's
valet parking which is advisable anyway due to the fact that the hotel is
situated on a busy junction with no campus apart from a very small forecourt.
Criticisms? Few: (a) there is only one small elevator serving the entire hotel
but this did not inconvenience us often despite the fact that the hotel was
almost full during our visit, (b) we signed up for a bed-and-breakfast package
and received a voucher for a free daily breakfast. The vouchers apparently have
a face value of $32 which doesn't go very far if there's two of you and each has
a $3 cup of coffee to start...
In general terms, this is a very good hotel for either business or pleasure
travelers and should be seriously considered by visitors to Seattle.
