Hotel Review of the Red Lion Hotel Seattle Downtown

I want to first give you the positive things about this hotel. The staff is very
courteous and all employees really give 100% to have you enjoy your stay. The
rooms are clean, the restaurants are enjoyable (especially the lower level pub)
and all in all a very good value. Now the negative> The lighting in the
hallways, rooms, bathrooms etc. is terrible. I don't understand what would be so
hard to update the lighting to make the rooms bright and comfortable. You can
hardly see to put on makeup, and forget about reading anything. This is my only
complaint and I hope they do something about it because the hotel itself is very
very nice.

Stayed here for one night prior to boarding a cruise to Alaska. Absolutely
flawless experience - nice room, good rate, great location within easy walking
distance of the waterfront, Pike st Market, restaurants etc. We only had a 5
minute taxi ride to the pier for boarding the cruise ship, and if you didn't
have much luggage would have been pretty easy to walk to the ship! Staff were
very helpful, and the room was very clean and modern. We'll definitely return.

Actually had sunny weather, clean comfy room. Our pkg included breakfast and
parking for $139. Winter rate, as they are more now. Friendly, helpful staff.
They did bill us for parking after we got home and we had to straighten that
out. But it all worked out. Very convenient location for Pike Place Market,
theaters, shopping. Would stay again.

Stayed here for one night with a friend in a room with two queen beds on the 9th
floor.
Price was $239 before taxes, which included free parking and free buffet
breakfast. It is in an older high rise building.
Location was great, as we were going to see a show at the 5th Avenue Theater and
it was less than a block away. Also within walking distance to Nordstrom,
Westlake Center, etc.
We checked in at 4:15pm and had trouble finding a spot to park in the garage. We
were also surprised our room wasn't ready. There was a lovely container of ice
water with strawberries and cucumbers in the lobby, but there was hardly any
water left and with all the people waiting, it ran out. We didn't get to our
room until 5pm. Ice was on even floors so I went to the 8th floor only to find
the ice machine was out of order. Our room had a peek-a-boo view of Elliott Bay.
A few floors higher would have made for a great view. The beds were very
comfortable and it was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. However, there
was a big wet spot on the carpet where someone had spilled something and the
window had a big lipstick stain on it. I had hoped the room would be cleaner.
At breakfast the next morning, we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated and
I was not impressed with their buffet. There was an interesting pancake machine,
sausage links, bacon, homestyle potatoes, two kinds of scrambled eggs, a few
breads and cereals and juice. Most of the time they were out of something, so it
didn't seem like there was much to offer. While we got our food, they gave our
table away and we had to get another one. We did have a friendly server named
Nicole, who brought coffee and we had fun talking with her.
At check-out, the room cost $277 once taxes were added. It seemed like a lot to
pay for a hotel that needs to get their act together.
Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with views of Elliott Bay |
