Hotel Review of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle
May 5, 2011
If you like beautiful old sophisticated hotels this place is for you! From the
hand carved wood arched doorways to the impeccable large rooms and attentive
staff...this place has it all. Only steps from the front of the hotel is
shopping from Gucci to YSL to LV to Nordstroms. you name it, it's there.
The food at the restaurants were delicious. And if you don't wish to spend $20
on a continental breakfast with all the fresh squeezed O.J. and coffee or tea,
berries, pastries, croissants and other fruit you can eat then go to the Market
a short walk down hill to the public Market (I always thought it was Pike's
Mkt.).
Beds were so comfy that I slept all night long...and pillows can be down or foam
and were both great. Room was upgraded to exec. suite and they took care of
every need.
can not say enough times how I LOVED everything about this hotel.
The trip to the airport from there is 1 block to the light rail and that is
$2.5o ea. way or you can take a $32 cab. be warned my guy said because I paid by
charge card it was $37.75 (he knew this before I got in the cab and did not
divulge it was more for c.c. and the door said flat rate of 32.00 . Not of
course the Fairmont's fault..
all in all the hotel is clean, bright, well staffed and I am going back next
trip.

Recently travelled here with my fiancé as we were visiting Seattle on vacation.
One of the best check in experiences I have ever had. Since I am a member of the
President's club, we did not even have to go to the reception, the doorman
simply provided us with our room keys and we were off. Amazing!
The hotel itself is older and charming. It has that kind of old elegance that
you would expect from a Fairmont.
The rooms are large and well appointed with flat screen TV's. The pool, gym and
hot tub areas are great. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
I really can't say anything bad about this place. Will definitely return next
time I'm in Seattle.
PS if you are looking for a good spot for dinner make sure to try out Purple
next door. Amazing ambience, food and wine!

This is really a lovely hotel with mostly good service. The downtown location is
wonderful of sightseeing and shopping! But the serious downside is the noise
from the street traffic. We were on the fourth floor and it sounded like trucks
were about to drive through our room. Even with earplugs it was so noisy that we
left feeling exhausted after our 2-night stay.
The breakfast room service was very, very slow --- 45 minutes to get served.
Room Tip: Perhaps a room on a higher level would be quieter.

As a Fairmont club member, not all Fairmont's are equal but this hotel makes a
good case to be considered at the top. Valet staff make every effort to greet
you and help quickly and efficiently. Adding water bottles to the vehicle before
leaving and ensuring you have directions to where you're going - Small details.
Like remembering your last name when greeting you the next day. Rooms were
slightly older than other Fairmont hotels, but hard to rate this hotel badly
when the service and staff were as good. Asked for a Sunday NY Times at a very
busy moment at the concierge desk, but they came thru without incident. |
