Hotel Review of the Red Lion Hotel Seattle Downtown

Arrived at airport & used the cheap & efficient light rail to 'Westlake'
station. A short stroll from there with our luggage to the hotel. Check in was
efficient & we had a great room on a high floor with views over Puget Sound.
Used the AAA rate (they honoured the Australian equivalent) with breakfast for
$179.95 per night plus tax.
Room was spacious, quiet and clean.
Location was excellent, Pike Place market within a couple of blocks (could see
it from our room). Produce and food here was great.
Breakfast we only did once-lousy coffee and nothing to write home about.
Starbucks across the road another coffee/ deli on the opposite corner nearby
insured we got our caffeine fix.
Took ferry to Bainbridge Island, did tours with Northwest Tours (highly
recommended) to Boeing Factory and day tour of Seattle.
Would stay again if ever in Seattle.

Red Lion was chosen based on trip advisor reviews, as I had not honestly ever
heard of this chain before. Location was perfect for walking to all major
sights/shopping, including the fact that just literally within a few minute walk
is the famous Seattle open market. Staff was helpful and gave good restaurant
suggestions as well. Room sizes adequate with nice amenities. Parking was
included in our room package and this made the hotel even more convenient. I
would recommend this hotel for a downtown Seattle experience.

1) no hot water in bathroom sink
2) Trash was not emptied out of room
3) Hotel front desk staff was incompetent
4) Could not mail business letters from the hotel ( no stamps at front desk!)
5) Tired looking elevators
6) overpriced
There are MUCH better hotels and locations in Seattle. Explore before you sign
up to stay here....

We spent 3 nights. Two nights it was 85 degrees in the room and the third night
it was 65 degrees. The "engineer" came up every day to fix the heat/air
conditioning to no avail. It seemed to be broken in the entire building. The
service in the restaurant in the evening was so bad that everyone left. We tried
going directly to the bar to get a drink and the bartender was just a witch, she
said we had to order through the waiter that we never saw. One waiter said he
couldn't take it and quit, he walked out. Large parties of people were walking
out. The hotel was full (U2 was playing that weekend) and the restaurant was
empty. The Elephant & Castle downstairs was good and it was packed. The location
is great, you can walk to all kinds of things, but we'd never stay there again.
