Hotel Review of the Warwick Hotel Seattle
Jan 22, 2011
I stayed at the Warwick last week to celebrate my birthday. It was a quick visit
but my friends and I loved the place. Great views of the city. The beds were
extremely comfortable. Hallways reek of cigarettes but our room was fine.
Parking is too expensive though. I noticed they leave a Sunday paper at every
single door which is nice. I'd definitely stay there again.

We stayed overnight arriving from Europe and heading back to Canada. I choose
this hotel because of its location downtown, close to the piers.
The hotel in general looks outdated. This feeling really takes form in the rooms
that look more like a late 70's than a modern downtown hotel. Everything was in
working order and clean, but areas like the bathroom make you think twice about
how well maintained the hotel is.
Service overall was good and staff was helpful. Pool is a nice touch.
The worst part was the noise. We were in the 10th floor and you would think it
was enough to shield you from the (un)expected downtown experience. Not the
case. We were hearing everything (and I mean even people talking in the
sidewalk). Some noise isolation is clearly needed in some rooms. You can hear
everything that is happening in the aisles outside the room, doors closing,
elevators arriving, etc.
Overall, I would have paid a few more dollars and stayed in another downtown
hotel.

The Warwick was a pleasant enough hotel but loud. We could hear all of the
street noises from our room on the 7th floor. We did enjoy a spectacular view of
the SpaceNeedle from our room.
The furniture in the lobby was a bit dated but functional. The doors are
obscenely heavy. When there is a vacuum / wind tunnel from the ones across the
lobby I did not have the physical strength to open them & had to rely on my
husband or the doorman. That was annoying. They lock the sidewalk doors at 11 pm
for security and you have to walk around through the garage to enter the
building after hours. They should install a key card reader like on the rooms.
The indoor pool is very tiny but the Jacuzzi was relaxing. I saw the gym; they
only have 1 stepper, stair master & elliptical machine but none was ever
waiting. Simply walking the hills of the city was enough of a work out for me.
Housekeeping was spotty. The rooms & public areas were clean but one day they
didn’t clean our room at all; they always forgot something – the correct number
of towels (even when we hung them up to signal re-use0; to restock the in-room
coffee; the bathmat. It was annoying.
The Ralph’s across the street is not the supermarket but a deli. The hot food
was good but the prices aren’t inexpensive. If you walk down 5th street behind
the hotel toward the Westlake Center there’s a Bartells Drug store which sells
almost everything except hot food that is available at Ralph’s for a lot less.
Breakfast was hard to come by at a reasonable price. You could of course get
breakfast in the hotel at hotel prices. There’s a restaurant behind the hotel on
4th that serves breakfast but again it was expensive. Ralph’s hours cater to the
business community. For a leisure traveler who wanted breakfast at 11 am the
options seemed to be limited to Starbucks & other coffee houses or fast food. We
did enjoy great pastry at Top Pot on 5th in front of the hotel.

Got here last night - and found a ''Welcome back in the hotel'', personalized
note in my room (last time I stayed here was in 2007, so they must have a very
good database). View on the Needle, spacious, clean room. Only thing is that you
have to pay for the internet (US$11 per 24 hours). Hotel is located perfectly.
Staff (reception, brasserie and room attendants) are very friendly and service
minded. Will be back!

We booked our room via this website. It was the lowest price in this
location...and the location is wonderful! Walking distance to absolutely
everything you could possibly want to do - or if not, you could catch public
transportation to get wherever you want to go! We arrived very early in the AM -
post-cruise. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. She went
the extra mile to get us a room and allowed an early check in! Fantastic, as we
certainly didn't expect it! The hotel has an historic elegance, our bed was very
comfortable, room was clean and quiet - in-room mini-bar fridge didn't work.
They offered free internet access in their business center - so, we were able to
check in and print our boarding passes for our flight home.
The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful with any and all questions
that we asked. Concierge assisted beautifully in booking a town car to the
airport for us. I would highly suggest using the town car service. It's not much
more than the shuttle service - and you don't have to lug your own suitcases.
The driver was extremely punctual, professional and courteous. I have read of
other people encountering difficulties with shuttle service, etc not being on
time and such - so, definitely need to do the town car via the concierge!
All in all - a very nice stay, though I would say we usually do not stay in
hotels that are in this price range...but, it is just the price of staying in
this area of Seattle. It's very close to Pike Place Market and lots of great
shopping - and that is definitely worth something!

At a price of 195 USD this hotel seemed our best option for a pre-flight
overnight stay in downtown Seattle. We booked a non-smoking room and got a nice
one with views on the 10th floor. Alas, the room had a persistent tobacco smell
we couldn’t ignore, so we asked for another room and got sadly banned to a
second floor room with persistent noise of all kinds of vending machines or some
such. The room badly need a make-over and seemed like an overflow room (no
hairdryer, stains on the bathroom-ceiling, empty mini-bar, no iron although
ironing board). On leaving I made a remark about the cigarette odour and got as
an answer this was probably caused by people smoking in corridors. Staff didn’t
seem to take this remark seriously. Parking for guests at 27 USD a day seems
quite expensive. All in all not a nice experience. |
