Booked the Hotel Max Seattle in fall 2011 through Priceline and even with that discounted price I don't think the Hotel Max Seattle was great value. The hotel is modern enough and clean enough and central enough. The rooms are just so so small. Please keep in mind that I do not come from a large home in Texas I live in a relatively small condo in Vancouver. I am used to economical spaces. That being said this room was simply too small. I am thankful I didn't have my family with me as it just would have been a disaster. It was even too small for just me and my friend overnight. Any hotel that has a shower that is uncomfortably small for a 5'9 male is just too small.

First the good about the Hotel Max Seattle:
Beautifully located hotel - one can walk all over downtown.
Aveda product in the bathrooms.
Cute rooms.
VERY comfortable pillows.
NO Gideon bible - an option for multiple religious texts to be brought to the room if needed.
Helpful and informative staff at the front desk.
Windows that open, at least a little bit!

Now, the bad about the Hotel Max Seattle:
I ordered room service once. After an hour, I called the restaurant. They seemed surprised it hadn't arrived. When I said I had to leave in 5 minutes, it showed up about 4 minutes 30 seconds later. Cold. Clearly someone had forgotten it. I paid for it because I didn't know it was cold. Wasn't worth the argument.
Walls. Thin as paper. Didn't think Seattle would be such a spring break location and, as I was there on business, the drunk giggling girls in the room next to mine put quite the crimp in my sleep.
The closet was very deep with no light. In order to see what was in it, I had to open the bathroom door and turn on the light so it shone into the closet.
Drawers. There are two tiny, tiny, almost lingerie drawers next to the refrigerator. If you live out of your suitcase rather than unpacking, this won't bother you.
Shower. I got the basic room, so this might be different in fancier rooms but - the shower was a tiny cube. The bathroom was cramped and tiny - European!
As with every hotel with a "water saver" program, housekeeping doesn't seem to pay any attention to where you leave the towels and whether or not you want them washed. Despite hanging them, they were removed every time.
Though I called in advance, valet service seemed completely confused when I came downstairs, every time.

This hotel came highly recommended (by a dude who probably didn't notice drawer size or the tiny shower), but I probably won't stay here again.

Hotel Max Seattle is a Nice hip hotel. Great staff. Very knowledgeable and caring. I really liked the interior design, colors and artwork. Cool hidden doors. Funky closets set up for the shower and WC. Sort of small but I liked the change of pace. Has a very European feel to it. Stash Hotel! Red Fin was excellent. And literally a Starbucks on each corner..
Downside - room was too small to do any business work in but it worked out fine. Old school air conditioning and heating - loud but not really needed most of the time.

I have mixed feelings about the Hotel Max Seattle - it's a hip and trendy little place in the middle of downtown Seattle. I stayed 1 night on a layover on my way to Vancouver BC. The best things about the hotel is the location - about a 10 minute walk to the Pike Street Market, 2 mins to downtown shopping and about 20 mins to the Space Needle (and yes, I walked it myself and timed). It was also one of the cheapest, non-dingy hotels that are available in downtown. At the time of booking, most places were 200-300$ per night, while this place was $136. The decor is very modern and hip - big art deco colors, funky wall art - and everything does have a new, glossy sheen to it. With that said, my room was very small. Particularly bizarre was the washroom - the toilet and sink was in a tiny 2x2 closet-sized room. It was very reminiscent of a airplane washroom, which is always unpleasant after finally getting off a long plane ride. The shower was in a separate, similarly tiny closet beside the washroom, with a separate door. It was clean, but a little bit claustrophobic. Please don't stay here if you have children or are staying for several days, it's perfect for a single traveller or a couple on a short weekend stay, but I can't imagine making it work for a family or for long stays. My second complaint is that, while the hotel does seem to brand itself to be modern, hip, and convenient, it does charge for everything. Don't expect free internet (either Wifi or cord) - it costs $9.95 a day. Thankfully, there are literally two Starbucks across the street from the Hotel Max Seattle with Wifi for free. There's also no complimentary bottled water in the room - it costs $4 per bottle.
Keeping these things in mind, I nevertheless had a decent stay. As long as you know what you're getting when you book this place, you won't be disappointed

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Super clean, comfy bed, staff very professional and helpful, centrally located (can walk to so many things), modern decor. I know some people have complained about the tiny rooms and bathrooms. That didn't really bother me and my partner, but then again, we don't have kids and we're used to living in small spaces.
Will definitely stay again when we go back to Seattle.
