We stayed at the Watertown while in town visiting my son for the holidays. I found everyone to be friendly and helpful. When I found out that the continental breakfast had been discontinued recently, the clerk offered vouchers for free breakfast at their cafe. The king size bed was firm and the most comfortable I've had at a hotel, but I did flind the very slick sheets to be a little annoying, as the comforter slid off at night and things became untucked. The Keurig coffee maker In room was nice, as were the bathrobes. We enjoyed our view of the city at night. I can't wait to return in warmer weather, when we hope to make use of the complimentary bikes.

I stayed at the Watertown Hotel while visiting my son for Christmas. My room had a wall of windows that overlooked the Seattle skyline including the Space Needle with it's Christmas tree on top and Mount Rainier. The room was well appointed and clean with a comfortable bed, plush towels, spa bathrobes, keurig coffee maker and Tammy Bahama bath product dispensers. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to the University of Washington, shopping and restaurants. The Pineapple Cafe within the hotel has the usual coffee shop fare (lattes, bagles, croissants). I had a wonderful breakfast a block from the hotel at the Portage Bay Cafe which had organic, local choices. Being vegetarian I am always looking for somewhere that offers more than a salad or veggie burger. I found Pizza Pi in the U District while on this trip. It is all vegan food. I had the best pizza. I will definitely stay at this hotel on my next visit.

I stayed 2 nights at the Watertown hotel while in town for business at UW. The hotel location is perfect for it's close proximity to campus, UW hospitals, and downtown. For under $100, the hotel is a steal! The room was much nicer than it looks in the pictures. Great layout, very nice bathroom. Bathrobes, Keurig, fridge and microwave were a plus, not to mention free wireless and parking! It's the best deal and nicest place out of all of the surrounding hotels if you ask me. The cafe in the lobby opens early if you want a latte or pastry before you head out, although within a square mile, there are plenty of fantastic food options. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was, and definitely think it's the best bang for the buck!

We have stayed at the “Watertown” every year for the last 5 years. There were 3 things that separated them from the other hotels in the area; continental breakfast, Aveda bath products, and free parking. When we heard that they no longer offered continental breakfast we almost cancelled our reservation as we were nervous what else had changed since “Pineapple Hospitality” took over. We decided to go for it, and have just finished a three night stay.

The staff at the front desk were just as great as always. The room was immaculate. The luxurious towels and bedding are still there. The Aveda bath products have been replaced by “Tommy Bahama Exotic Coral” dispensers (I have sensitive skin, but found these products did not bother me). There are Keurig coffee machines in each room, with “Tully’s” coffee and “Celestial Seasonings” tea. There is also free Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea after 2PM in the lobby, which is a nice treat.

We went down and checked out the “Pineapple Café” the first morning, and were the only guests there. We were really disappointed in the selection and quality. There were mostly pastry items and bagels, but unfortunately, everything we had tasted and felt like it was previously frozen. Not good at all. I suggest you walk a couple of blocks up the street and buy fresh items from “Trader Joe’s” for breakfast, as it’s much better value.

All in all, we will definitely be back next year. We love the location, the rooms, and the staff. We really did miss the breakfast, but thankfully there are other options around. I can still whole-heartedly recommend this hotel.

I struggled with how many stars to give since the hotel isn't bad but it sure isn't what it used to be. I've been staying here for almost ten years now, at least 20 nights a year and up until this year, I'd never stay anywhere else. But unfortunately, the hotel was purchased by Pineapple Hospitality and it's not the same.

The bad. First, there is no more free breakfast, there's a crummy little "cafe" that serves the basics, but if you want something other than Starbucks coffee, go across the street. Even the Starbucks isn't free until 2:00 in the afternoon. Second, the shampoo. They used to have great Aveda products, but now they have soap/shampoo/conditioner that all smells like a cheap Pina Colada. Take my word on this, YOU HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN SHAMPOO ETC. The stuff they have is really really bad. If you like a hot shower, you might be disappointed, sometimes the water is almost hot but some mornings just tepid. Not a chance that you could take a hot bath though with what comes out of the tap. Internet can be quite variable. Some days pretty fast, some days painful. I've frequently had to go down to a cafe if I had work to do which required a good fast connection.

The good. The staff is generally friendly and the housekeeping staff is the best anywhere. All of the housekeeping staff have been here for years and they remember me by name when I come and the cleaning is impeccable. The towels are fluffy and big, the beds good, the room layout is unique and not at all sterile, and there's free underground parking (though I was told they have talked about starting to charge). Compared to the other choices in the area it's still a great deal. If you like to walk to dinner there are many choices within a mile so the location is hard to beat.

So compared to what it used to be--I'd give it one star. Compared to other places in the area, I'd give it 4. I'm on the lookout for somewhere else to stay (and if they start charging for the parking I will) but probably not in much of a hurry.
