Hotel Review of the Edgewater Hotel Seattle

9 April 2012
just stayed at the Edgewater Hotel Seattle april 5th and 6th. Such mixed reviews had us a little nervous. We had a living social coupon we used and upgraded to a waterfront room. The view was fantastic. I would stay in this room again however I am not sure I would stay here in one of the other rooms for the money. If you are not on the water there are plenty of nice hotels you can stay in for the same price and not have the trains going by at night waking you. The only thing I can say could be improved is the ventilation in the rooms. I didn't see a fan in the bathroom so when you shower all that steamy air has no where to go. It was fairly warm there when the sun shines in your room and no real way to cool the room down other then open the windows that dont have screens. I felt it got stuffy at night in the room. You could not just run the fan. The fireplace is set on a timer and when its about ready to shut off it beeps like an alarm. Kinda annoying when you are laying in bed and it goes off. We thought it was our daughters alarm on her phone going off. Overall though this is a great hotel to stay at but expensive. I think its crazy to charge 34 plus taxed for parking when you are paying so much for a room. So go up one block to the bell street parking garage and pay 21 a day taxes included.

Great stay at the Edgewater Hotel Seattle for three nights, though expensive Lounge and restaurant at Puget Sound's edge excellent...ate there all three nights. Live music on weekends. Desk and valet staff are most helpful and friendly. Rooms are appointed nicely, and the waterfront rooms really fun, especially if you wake up in the middle of the night and see the moon's reflection streaming across the water. There is some hall noise as this is a bit older hotel, but with character. Good location, short walk from Pier, Pike Place Market, and downtown.

Just got back from the Edgewater Hotel Seattle, really enjoyed our stay. The reviews are way to harsh on this hotel. It was nice, clean and the staff were friendly. We booked on priceline and had a nice room on the water, great bathroom and patio. The hotel halls are not the newest but have stayed at a few hotels in Seattle and most are a bit older. Give the Edgewater Hotel Seattle a try.

We made reservations at the Edgewater Hotel Seattle. Sometimes hotels are not always willing to accommodate folks but this was certainly not the case here. We were upgraded (it was our 20th anniversary) to a partial water view room and then paid an amazingly low price for a full waterfront room. The sea lion going by our window was worth it! In year's past, the staff and quality of the rooms was subpar, but not this trip. From check in to checkout it was clear this establishment had changed.

I spent four nights at the Edgewater on a trip to Seattle with my 13-year-old son. I had read the Edgewater Hotel Seattle reviews which called it one of the 100 best hotels in America, and I guess with the bar set that high, it would be hard not to be disappointed.

On the positive side: the service is great, the people are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. They gave us good advice about how to get to places, the valet parking brings your car in seconds, and one employee went out of her way to show my son a bald eagle who lives on top of the E on the Edgewater sign. The views of the bay, the islands and the mountains were amazing, and my son had a great time watching the ships come and go from Japan, China and elsewhere.

On the downside: Edgewater Hotel Seattle valet parking is $36 per night, and even though your car is inches from you, you're not allowed to walk those inches and get it yourself. Room service, while quick and very good, is obscenely expensive. The first morning, we ordered a small coffee, one order of pancakes, one yogurt parfait, and a glass of milk. The total: $48. Ouch. Another reviewer mentioned bumps and scrapes in the hotel, which is right on the mark. The bathrooms are obviously newly redone and are very nice. The beds are comfortable. But the carpets are beyond tired, with poorly done repairs in the hallway, and an overall musty smell that even my son commented upon. The area around the elevators on our third floor was always desperately in need of a good vacuuming. Wifi is $10 per day, which I find annoying when it's free in so many other places. On our next to last day, there was construction which sounded like it was in the room next door to us which started at about 7 a.m. We're from the East Coast and were awake, so no problem for us, but I can't imagine everyone was up like we were.

Definitely upgrade to the full water view; it's worth the price. We spent hours watching it rain on Bainbridge Island while it was sunny in Seattle, and vice versa. We didn't have a balcony (and didn't even know it was an optino when we checked in) but opened the sliding glass doors every day and enjoyed the bay.

Overall, I would probably stay at the Edgewater Hotel Seattle again for the location, the view, the service and the food, but new carpets would move it up a mile.

Very friendly, fast check in. The room was exactly as we had asked for in the online reservation system. All staff was friendly, and very welcoming. I only had two issues, but it didn't take away from the wonderful time we had there. You have to have valet parking regardless of the fact that you may not be leaving the room or grounds. The valet parking is an extra 34$ on top of the nightly rate. They used to have where you could park right in front on your own, but they changed that. We had a beautiful, king, water view room one of the windows had bird droppings all over it. It was a great stay!!! We plan on coming back at least 4 times a year. It was wonderful
Thank you Edgewater for going above and beyond on customer service!!! ps Room service food was amazing!!
