Hotel Review of the Red Lion Hotel Downtown Seattle

5 April 2012
The Red Lion Hotel Seattle Downtown was great, except for a big problem. No water to take a shower. None at all. Now I'm on the rail headed to the airport to sit on a plane for 4 hours. All they offered was to comp my breakfast. Not interested. Not staying there again!

A couple of days after I checked out of the Red Lion Hotel Seattle Downtown I noticed a $11 dollar charge from the Red Lion on my Visa. I e-mailed and received a follow-up bill that noted a breakfast charge at the Terrace Restaurant. Problem was, we had not set foot in the hotel restaurant. I e-mailed a couple of times and asked for the charge to be reversed, but did not receive any response.
$11 is not a lot of money, and it's not worth my time to try to chase hotel staff to respond to me, but it's quite irritating that nobody from the hotel answered my e-mails. At least it wasn't a larger overcharge of say $111.00
Otherwise, I liked the location, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly. I had one room keycard that didn't seem to work. Parking is tight. And the hotel should have responded to my e-mail regarding the overcharge.

Red Lion Hotel Seattle Downtown is a great hotel! I stayed on the 20th floor with an awesome view of Pike's Place Market. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are superb and have lots of room. The food is very good. I will definitely stay here again.

Red Lion Hotel Seattle is a very nice hotel in a great location, just up the street from Pike Market. The rooms are clean and spacious and the wifi works great. The pub downstairs is extremely convenient since there is little other dining choices nearby in the evening.
However, I would hesitate to return. The fan system runs 24/7, and if you have allergies or otherwise don't like cold air blowing on you all night, it can make your stay uncomfortable. There is a temperature knob that can be turned (but it was cold air no matter what). You have no option to turn the fan off.
Maintenance came and said there were other complaints, but the option offered was to bring a space heater. Not good. I called again and was told that the heat was working completely normally. I asked to be moved, but checked another room and it was just as cold.

My husband and I just spent the weekend there with our pup and can't say enough about how wonderful the staff was. Everyone from the parking attendants to the wait staff and housekeepers were friendly and so polite and helpful. The Garden Terrace dinner left me speechless! The best salmon I have ever had by far and I found the prices while higher than I would like to pay they were in line with the other hotels in the area and the food was wonderful and 5 star.

There were some issues that we experienced during our stay that made the rating drop. As others have stated the walls are thinner than paper therefore you can hear EVERYTHING including the toilets being flushed in other rooms. We were there for 3 nights and the first night the 20 something's that occupied the room next to us felt they needed to come home at 1:30am and share the entire night out they just had with all that would hear as they were yelling and laughing and slamming doors. The positive was that after we called security (the came up within 3 mins) they were quiet. They had moved elsewhere but when they returned an hour and a bit later they were loud again but only for a short time.

Our second night was wonderful. The party crowd checked out and we had a great sleep until the last night when they checked in a young couple with a newborn that screamed ALL NIGHT til 3 am. They really need to think about where they place people especially when the hotel is not even close to being full and we specifically requested a quiet room since we have experienced similar issues in the past. Do not put a baby next us if there is a chance it may scream all night. It's like going into a restaurant that's almost empty and they seat you next to the rowdiest table in the place. A little common sense would be great.

The front staff were more than willing to fix the issue as best they could and since our stay was by using points they asked if comping our parking would be fair and we agreed. We will be returning just because of the staff.

It's in a great location to everything. You are within blocks to Macy's, Nordstroms and Pike Place with a Starbucks on every other corner and many other bakeries and cafes to try. I look forward to our return
