Hotel Review of the Renaissance Hotel Seattle

6 April 2012
The Renaissance Hotel Seattle is a great value. It is within walking distance to Seattle center and quite close to Pike's place market and the Aquarium. They have a roof deck with great views. The staff was really helpful, they recommended local places to eat within walking distance and printed out a ferry schedule for us. They were in remodelling the lobby during our visit, looks like it will be quite nice when it is done. The room I was in was newly remodelled and had a kitchenette. They have bikes you can rent, this is a great idea because there is so much in biking distance.
Con- the parking garage is kind of tight, some of the spaces were challenging to get in and out of.

We stayed at Renaissance Hotel Seattle for an overnight trip to Seattle for some shopping and sightseeing. The parking is convenient, but as stated before, fairly expensive (36 dollars per night). We asked for a room on the quieter side (away from I5 highway). On the twelve floor. Decent view. Staff friendly. The rooms were clean and large enough.

If you have young children, the location is a bit farther away from the tourist areas such as Pike Market and the hills can be steep. Walking back from Pike Street is less of an incline. Real close to the on/off for I5 so easy to get to and out of Seattle. Got a decent price off Priceline (4 star hotel, Pike area).

While we were there recently, the hotel had some landscape work done outside. The landscape company used a large blower to fill a large planter outside the front doors of the hotel. The soil they used was filled with a very foul smelling fertilizer that filled not only the hotel's lobby, but also every floor of the hotel. Not one concession was offered by the hotel staff when complaints were made. Even a drink or meal on the house would have sufficed. The staff was indifferent.
Also, one of the concierge staff was -- well, snooty. My goodness! Really?
Be prepared to pay for internet service anywhere in the Renaissance Hotel Seattle -- $12.95 a day. Cheaper hotels offer wifi for free. What gives? We paid a high price for a special stay in downtown Seattle. We had a great time downtown, but was not impressed with our Renaissance experience.
